    Stoke City Form Guide:

Stoke City FC currently remain in 9th place on 22 points (+2 GD) - coming off our first away win of the season against an inform WBA who had the joint best Home record with Manchester United! With 13 out of possible 15 points we are now an inform side moving up the table and we now go AWAY again to a struggling Villa. A fixtures that has returned 3 draws on the bounce, would a point a piece be a result for both managers?

LAST 10 Premier League Games: 5 Wins; 3 Draws; 2 Losses:
LAST 37 Premier League Games: 11 Wins; 14 Draws; 12 Losses:

    Villa Form Guide:

Villa currently siiting in 16th place on 14 points (-11) - coming off what could be said as a solid away point against QPR? With only 5 out of a possible 15 points in their last 5 this could be considered relegation form! One of the lowest scorers in the league (12 Goals) the local press and fans are starting to show frustartion at Bentgate (26 Million sigining from Sunderland not a crooked 5 bar farm gate!) - its seems all managers make strange decessions! A shadow of the Martin O'Neil side who were competing in Europe and always in the top 6!

LAST 10 Premier League Games: 2 Wins; 4 Draws; 4 Losses:
LAST 37 Premier League Games: 7 Wins; 15 Draws; 15 Losses:

    Right then!

Form guide says it should be an AWAY win, history tells us that Villa score goals and Villa park hasnt been a happy hunting ground! Last results say it will be a draw - I'll go with that!

Hope I dont jinx our run of from.

I'll just say as I did last week Smither's. "I will be delighted with a pt, anything else will/would be a bonus"

Oh and KTF one and all. And, I will vote now.

I will go with draw as usual not that confident when were away from home. If some1 does win it cant see there being many goals either way. I no im stating the bleeding obvious with that one but hey ho

I've gone for an away win, but thinking about it, not so sure. Charlie Adam is suspended, so I don't know how we will set up. I think it would be a 4-5-1, with Whitehead, possibly Palacios in Whelan's place, and Whelan in Adam's position, not sure that would work out, although Glenn is supposed to be an attacking mid, or back to a 4-4-2?
I'd go for the 442, don't think we'd need the extra man in midfield, (although Walters would be one of the strikers, but effectively more a CM) Villa have a young, relatively inexperience team, I think we can push them about quite easily.

I,ve got a good feeling about this one, i think it could be a 2-0 win for the potters but after last weeks win at wba i would take a draw.

Pessimism , a force so strong in me , says a Stoke win by one , not two or three.

In the near future I see . m.o.t.m. TP will be , but only very narrowly.

Last on MOTD again tonight I would think. Only 1 shot and that was not on target (BBC stats). Nevertheless a good point I suppose and our undefeated run is extended. But it must have been dire to watch today.

Boom get in - I got a prediction right!

I listened to the radio and by all accounts sounded pretty poor, even the Stokie commentators said it was half of football they had seen??

However, all in all 4 points in 2 away derby games is a good return regardless of the performance! Look forward to hearing the views of someone who was there?

    Same here Smither's
Yep, a pt and I also listened/heard the same as you said above.. I actually turned the radio off it was so bad. Stupid thing is? Once JEROME/CROUCH came on we seemed to be improving = at least having a go! WHY we did'nt before then, only Pulis will know.

All in all a pt is a pt and we've played much better away this season and lost.. so I too got the prediction correct but after listening to what seemed a totally crap game for the most part. We're we fortunate to come away with a pt?

Can't wait for Cris, Waddo et to give the fanseye view of the game. ONE shot and that was off target? say's it all.

Ok guys here it is just back from the game as we went to the German Christmas market afterwards that made up for a pretty dull game to be fair.

When I looked at the line up it was a kind of oh no feeling as it was like looking at our side from last season, with both Whitehead and Whelan starting along with Shotton and Jones and no Kightly or Adam.
Villa to be honest were woeful and deserve to be down at the bottom of the league as they had plenty of possession and were very fast on and off the ball but could not score for love nor money. I thought when Bent came on it might have changed things but once again Huth and Shawcross were solid at the back. Shotton made plenty of runs down the wing and put in a couple of useful crosses but no one was on the end of them as Jones was either on his rear with his hands in the air protesting to the ref or no where to be seen. We once again never looked like scoring until Jerome came on and then he always looked like he had a goal in him, but sadly was not given enough time to do so. I would have prefered to see him start over Jones who was totally ineffective and reverted back to type today. Crouch looked menancing too when he came on but once again had too little time to create anything.
Having Shotton in the team we also went back to the old Rory long throw routine which I thought we could do without now but obviously not.
Can't say I'm disappointed Shotton got sent off late on as we can now hopefully get 2 proper wingers on now and bring in Wilko once more!
The game reminded me of last Christmas on Boxing Day another boring 0-0 draw sat in the cold! 0-0 draws seem par for the course between Stoke and Villa.
Loads of empty seats at Villa which the Stoke fans duly pointed out to them with a rendition of "your grounds to big for you" :)

Also I thought the ref was really poor and very biased towards the home side!
Sell out away day travel and Stokies in great voice.
Tony Pulis tactics once more of we have got a point before kick off lets not lose it!

Re Shotton although as you say it was indeedy a pretty poor game. I've just seen MOTD and Shotton never touched the lad for the 2nd booking? I think It would be re-cinded should TP appeal against it. The result I'm happy with but that ref? Jesus wept the tackle on Whelan?? Another on Shotton?? shocking that not even a card of any colour was shown. WELL done all the Stoke fans who DID travel today, I could hear you out singing the Villa fans <ok> Apart from when I turned the radio off, in part due to unexpected visitors.

I think Villa havent lost at home in the last 13/14 games which makes the point even better, regardless of the performance.

Defensive wise we were fantastic, attacking wise was probably the worst I have seen us. When I saw the teamsheet i feared the worst, Jones and Walters upfront were very poor and only when Jerome and crouch came on did we really look anything like. What a **** game to watch!!!!!!!. We need pennant back now!!!

That's excatly what I said to my lad at the game yesterday. We are missing Pennant badly now. We still had the players on our books to finish Villa off yesterday but sadly they were not used to good use!

I was watching the players train pre game and the coach was flicking a ball in front of each player for them to run onto and hit at the goal with Tommy in there. By far the most clinical striker and the one that scored almost everytime was actually Jerome. I don't think Jones even scored as every shot was tame and lazy, just like how he plays!

What a rediculous referee decision for Shotton's second yellow, he moved out of the way to avoid bringing himdown and the Villa player took a bit of a hop, skip and a jump before he went down. Decisions like that ought to be able to be appealed against or, if not, the ref should be able to look at it again and withdraw the yellow
