Think I heard on the radio this afternoon that Stoke have won 1 away game since Boxing Day last year (although they are leading at Everton at the moment). So, not fantastic travellers, packed L2 ground with the away fans in the open, a bit of history (just a bit..). Round 4 here we come
Never I think my season ticket has just gone up in value, do you reckon your make the journey down Tim?
My daughter has already mentioned it, so the pressure's on. That said, IF the game is chosen to be televised live the prospect of sitting (or standing) in a pub and spending a few quid on a few beers would probably outweigh the prospect of spending £85 on fuel, plus ticket costs of course. However I'm sure that my parents would be delighted to see us again! So, no decision yet, but the possiblility's not ruled out. Don't worry, if we do come I'll be in touch.
Does anyone know how many 3rd round games are going to be televised? Looking at the draw and prospective games for television, apart from the obvious first choice, there seems to me to be a relatively short list of 'interesting' games. One of the criteria historically has been lower league side home against Premiership opponents, and as far as I can see the other games that meet that are Bristol Rovers v Aston Villa Swindon v Wigan Chelmsford or Macclesfield v Bolton Of those Gills v Stoke is probably the potentially most interesting in view of the Pulis history and also Stoke's recent relative success (finalists last year, let's not forget). Fleetwood (if they get through) v Blackpool is also interesting because of the proximity of the towns. Anyone got any thoughts about the possibility of a TV payday?
