Remember when Stockport fans was very angry at our club because of a ref postponing our game with them after they already arrived in Bristol?

This was the game just before we beat City in the JPT at the Mem. Stockport accused us of making it rain so much to get the game postponed to save the players for the City game.

There was a lot of anger between the 2 clubs over this and we ended up beating them to the play offs, and when we went up a few fans were reported to have sent 'wish you were here' cards to Stockport FC <laugh>

Since then there has been a little rivalry between the 2 clubs. I remember the threads on BBC606 that got a bit heated between us and them.

For your info.... Stockport have been relegated to the Blue Square Bet North.

    Ouch!

Wonder what Jim Gannon is up to these days!

    The following came from Wikipedia:

An angry Lord Snape told the press that "I'm getting pretty fed up of watching part-time teams beat Stockport County. Changes are going to be made unless things improve. Jim Gannon's pretty good at telling me how this club should be run. Well I'm going to tell him that I'm not impressed by the way the team is being run. If we lose a couple of our next games, we're in a relegation battle with a much bigger budget than most of the teams down there with us, which quite frankly is not good enough."[169] Fourteen months into his second spell at Edgeley Park and with County sitting in the relegation zone, Gannon was relieved of his duties as Stockport manager on 16 January 2013 following the 3–1 home defeat by Mansfield Town.[170]

Don't you just love Jim Gannon!

I well remember our run ins with some of the Hatters' fans back in the old 606 days. They were full of it.

Their experience is a salutory lesson in how far a club can fall in a short period of time (there's another lesson that happened to some tinpot club back in the early 80s, but their name escapes me for the moment <laugh>).

It's a long way back from the Conference North.

The football league's a bit of a house of cards at the moment. Plenty of clubs are on a knife edge and I bet if you look back in another ten years a few more established names will have gone.
