So we're still charging kids £30 to attend trials - one of the most stupid policies of the Bates era. http://www.leedsunited.com/news/201...3052844?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter What are the chances that we'll miss out on the next Wayne Rooney because a kid's parents can't afford to send him for a trial? This is an absolutely idiotic policy and the new owners should know better.
I don't believe I'm reading this Still can't decide on GFH - are they Bates-like or just not yet getting a grip on the detail? I lean to the latter theory atm. After 700 years of the Bates era, I can well imagine the culture of the people working for LUFC is to think its entirely reasonable to make a charge like this. Needs someone to reshape people's brains, to inject a bit of the strategic long term good into their visions. I am still prepared to believe GFH will eventually do this, but there are not that many signs for me to base that view on, to be honest.
This is the biggest gripe I've got under the Bates regime. We had the blueprint for academies that everyone else copied. Then the twat Bates decides he can make some cash from it. He gets rid of 2 of the best kids coaches in the world, who both walk into Man City and take over there academy. These 2 have all the contacts for Leeds and Yorkshire schools and football clubs, and promptly take every decent kid. Most of whome are trained in Leeds and Bradford by the way, but belong to Man City. Our TA medical team is cut, the education block is closed and the housekeepers all lose their jobs so that most of TA can be closed down to save money. No more kids boarding in the accommodation blocks. Its criminal what has happened, and all the best talent is now looked after in Manchester. Yes there are some parents who want their kids coached at Leeds, but they have to pay, and what that does is water down the coaching because not every kid who's parents can afford to pay, is good enough. The future of our club is our kids, both as fans on the terraces and in the academy trying to break through into the 1st team. Your own kids will save millions in transfer fees, but Bates sold most of our promising kids who went to Chelsea, Spurs, Man City and Everton. Bates made money in selling them as well.
Take a leaf out of our kids academy guys with common sense pricing in today's economic climate http://www.officialsoccerschools.co.uk/millwall/index.php/?course_duration=235
