I spoke to my dad on the phone just now, he's been to every home game under Parkinson and he thinks that things have got so bad that we should sack him. The players are lost, the tactics are awful. No attempt to play football. He's not someone that usually advocates sacking managers so it says a lot to me.
I'm less confident now that the players we'd be looking to sign in January are the right ones. Does Parkinson want five giants who can't play football to save their lives but will win headers? If so where are when he eventually leaves and we're stuck with them? Probably a comfortable mid table league one side.

This is exactly what I think. Keep hoping we’ve hit rock bottom but keep getting proved wrong. I don’t think Parkinson will get the boot but I’m afraid that if he signs 5 players in January and things don’t improve and he finally gets the bullet we are left with players the new manager doesn’t want. Been in that position before. As I say I don’t think it will happen but for me it might be worth the risk of getting rid now and letting the new fella have the window. It’s a difficult one.
History shows that many clubs have dispensed with their manager after a very short time , the most notable being a certain Mr Brian Clough at Leeds . At the time of Jack Ross being dismissed their was a hope that we had someone lined up to replace him , no we didn’t , bit like our recruitment of players we work our way down a less than illustrious list and end up with players that nobody else wants now we are doing the same with our managers . Stewart Donald has had a lot on his plate recently but nothing compared to what he faces in the immediate future , he needs to think very carefully as to what he needs to do . Due to his relative inexperience he may need to talk to people or acquaintances in football and try to get some perspective on how to handle the current situation but he has to show leadership qualities by being decisive as we need to do something as a matter of urgency .
There's a difference between supporting the lads at the game, and discussing wether the manager is fit for the job.

The problem I have with giving him the cheque book in January is that I can't see him working out here and he'll have to be replaced at some point.
If he signs 6 players 'of his style', and gets shot of a few too, we'll probably end up with a new manager coming in to manage a team assembled by 2 managers with different styles - with no option to sign players until close season.
This could put us back another year. I think that if someone did proper risk assessments for keep him and get shot of him - he would be gone.

His results with Ross' players are atrocious, and performances useless. This was, and is a terrible appointment, he was solely given the job because he was cheap, in effect a "free agent" so no compensation. That does not give me confidence that we will pay fees for players in January, they will also be signed primarily because they are cheap, probably won't improve the team, and will then prove difficult to get rid of. You pay peanuts you get monkeys, those £10 million lifts at the AOL will be impressive though. Not a case of onwards and upwards, more backwards and downwards. Donald and co. have been found out, the game is up.
This is the most likely outcome given the way things have gone so far.
Stew needs to realise he's not so much dropped the ball but repeatedly booted it into his own net with his on field football decisions. Its like watching someone play Football Manager for the first time.

We are a set of chancers playing loose and free with our club. happy to pay millions on ****ers like Grigg but pay buttons for a manager to organise them.
Safc’s problem isn’t sacking managers, our problem is appointing duffer after duffer. We do this because, football wise, the club is ****ing clueless.
we are a failed club, run by failed administrators, who,appoint cheap and chatty managers to manage cheap and tatty players that we pay over the odds for either in wages of transfer fees.
the club needs gutting.

Never heard that one before. I am familiar with "good players make good managers". Mainly because it's true. Too many people expect managers to perform miracles. Changing the manager won't suddenly turn a failing team into world beaters. At most, you get a slight up turn in results over a short period- something that SAFC proved time and time again over the past 10 years. The difference is made when a manager gets the opportunity to bring in new players who are either better than what is already at the club or more suited to that manager's way of working.
Tell me a great team that had a **** manager?
We have appointed utter **** to manage safc bar allardyce. We got lucky with Reid and other than that we have been relegated 9 times since the mid 70s. we have mis managed the club, appointed ****e as managers and bought some ****ing hopeless players.
You don’t have the track record safc has by appointing and buying quality.

Well, I haven't made it up and its not bollocks. It's what football managers will tell you, when they're being honest.
No great team has a **** manager because the managers of great teams bring in great players and in turn they look like geniuses. Its pretty simple really.
Tell me, what do you think a 'great' manager would do differently to get this team promoted?
Both Ross and Parkinson have been relatively successful at other clubs. Why do you think they are considered failures here? Have they suddenly forgotten how to do their jobs? Of course they haven't.
Like I said on another thread, honest managers will tell you that a manager will make approximately 10% difference to any given group of players- there are of course exceptions to this but it can be taken as a general rule.
Poor directors hire poor football managers, poor football managers hire poor players, who in turn produce bad results. Not the players or the managers fault they were given the job, that goes back to the directors. And therein lies the problem. Donald is out of his depth, both financially and football wise.
Well Leicester won the Prem and then binned their manager - does that count. Or how about us in the late 90s with Reid? By definition of most supporters when the the teams winning the manager's great and when it's losing he's rubbish.
