An article i read the other week said they had to keep him, he was inconsistent but they said he had put some match winning performances in. If he works hard he could easily make it at Charlton.
Cameron Stewart is exactly the kind of player you want in your starting XI. Often frustrating, always capable and sometimes special. He is the only player who can beat a man purely with his quick feet, who can conjure a chance, crack a shot on goal, out of seemingly nothing. He was sensational on Tuesday, a deserved winner of the club’s official Man of the Match poll. I go to football to entertained, to be lifted onto my feet. As such, I’m always ready to persevere with a player like Stewart. Consistency is all well and good, but it’s not exactly what dreams are made of Just to clarify, this is from the article., not my opinion. I think he's got potential but playing **** for us regularly didn't help his cause. Money would be great, but going on a free would do also.
Looks like we might actually get something for him. He seems to have regained some of his old form at Charlton and apparently had another good game against Yeovil today with a goal and an assist. I wouldn't want him back but Charlton appear to like him and 500k might not be out of the question in January along with something similar, or more, for Fryatt.
I'd be amazed if we got £500k for Stewart when he's only got 6 months left on his contract and Charlton know that nobody else can come in and sign him in January. At least with Fryatt it's an open auction if it comes to it.
Except he can't play for anyone else this season. Played for us in the cup and Charlton, unless he's on an emergency loan there? I'd like us to bring him back and sit him on the bench, probably not good enough but he's that type of player we miss down the right when Elmo isn't cutting it with his constant stand on the touch line and cross to no one from anywhere. Depends who we sign in January or if Charlton make a decent bid, but if he just doesn't look at all up to it after a couple of sub apps we can always send him back to Charlton on loan in the loan window.
True. But if he continues to play well into January and they are close to the relegation zone they may be desperate enough to make a decent bid. Cam has talent and it would be nice to see him find a home with a good well managed club like Charlton.
He sounds like a fairly bright lad... CAMERON Stewart is the first to admit that he doesn’t have a clue how his future is going to play out. About the only thing the 22-year-old winger does know is that it is unlikely to involve Hull City. As things stand, Stewart is due to head back to the KC Stadium after the New Year’s Day match at Ipswich Town. But Addicks boss Chris Powell has already spelled out his desire to keep the former Manchester United youngster for longer. But Stewart is out of contract in the summer. And the offer of a permanent switch away from the Tigers - ending the uncertainty he currently feels - will be seriously considered. “This loan wasn’t about Hull sending me out to see if they wanted me back,” said the Mancunian. “My contract is coming to an end at Hull and once it ends that will be it. “I’ve not heard anything from Hull. That might be a surprise to other people but it isn’t to me. But it doesn’t really effect me. I came to Charlton to play football - I don’t need a well-done pat on the back from Hull. “I had a great time at Hull and it’s great to see them doing well in the Premier League. But if there was any chance of them extending my deal then I’m sure I’d have heard something by now. “At the moment I’m going to have to find a new job so it is about playing as well as I can and scoring as many goals as I can because I’m in the shop window. “Before I came to Charlton there were other clubs interested and now I’m playing regularly and I’m fully fit. But it’s not like I’m ringing my agent or he is calling me. I’m enjoying regular game time and working under the boss and his coaching staff. I don’t want to be overthinking things because prior to this I’d spent a lot of time not playing. Now I’ve had a run of matches and feel really sharp. “If there was the chance of extending my loan here I’d look at doing that. I think a lot of the gaffer and I hope he feels the same way. But if Hull need some money maybe they’ll want to sell me. If there is a permanent deal then it will give me a bit of security rather than a summer of thinking ‘where am I going to go next?’. But it’s not just about what I want. It’s about what Charlton want or Hull want - finding a balance. “If it was just down to somewhere to choose to go on loan then I’d prefer to stay here."
It will be even nicer to see him off Hull City's wage bill. January would be perfect. By all accounts Charlton want to keep him so let him go for nowt to them as long as they take his full wages.
