I really enjoyed his first 'Comedy Vehicle' series... it seemed an age before this second series arrived and now that it has, I must say I think the first episode is ****. He's become very fat and very smug - his humour seems random and unfunny... it's obviously rehearsed but it comes across as just rubbish ramblings... http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0110grc/Stewart_Lees_Comedy_Vehicle_Series_2_Charity/ ... anybody enjoy it?
please log in to view this image The interview with Armando Iannucci about there only being 4 jokes was probably supposed to be ironic and post-modern, but actually exaggerated the comedy content of the show.
I like the way you highlight the fact that he's gained weight as part of your criticism. Not for you just the fact that he's no longer funny as a reason to deride him. He's also fat! Shows your putting the effort in.
I'm glad you liked it - I was pointing out that he has become lazy and over confident in his own cleverness...
I thought it was excellent. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for reminding me it was on or I would have missed it otherwise. the whole gaining weight thing is obviously a post-modern slant on societies desire for good looking people on television.....very clever.
I haven't saw the new series yet. I like Stewart Lee and saw him live at the end of the year and thought he still had it. He does look like geography teacher now right enough
I know what you're saying. I don't mind Russell Howard, I just think he'll struggle to change in the future when his audience gets a bit older. Gt this watched Bollo http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/search?q=Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle
Is it a 'new' series because that routine is ancient - very funny though. He did it in Glasgow years ago - brave man.
