http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/181240-stevie-return-will-make-us-even-better No Brendan, it won't. Really, really hoping he doesn't get straight back into the first team. BR has done well to keep Johnson out but I fear keeping Stevie out is too much for him to handle. We'll see I suppose.
"There is no-one in the squad who has a God-given right to walk straight into the team," Rodgers said. "It probably would be (an issue) for other people but certainly not for me and it wouldn't be for Steven. "He is very much a team player and if he was on the bench because the team was in good form and playing well I think everyone respects that. "I have shown my time here players who are performing well, irrespective of price or status, they play - simple as that. "He is not fit yet so we just need to get him back and then if that (him sitting on the bench for the final three months of his Liverpool career) was the case you would have to ask Steven (how he feels). "Let's see how the season pans out and then review it then." http://www1.skysports.com/football/...return-to-liverpool-side-says-brendan-rodgers Th official site are selective with comments they use, they dont like to use more controversial comments/tstories it seems to me sometimes
Arguably, two of our current most inform players are playing in CM; Hendo and Allen. Be very harsh on either to be dropped.
I don't think you will find to many saying it should be Hendo. Well, apart from Jimmy of course #committeesigning
I think Rodgers and Gerrard both know that at the moment, he doesn't deserve a place in the first team. Both are probably hoping Allen gets injured again so gives him an excuse to put him back into the team though! Having Gerrard on the bench would be great at the moment, he's getting a hard time but I wouldn't mind him coming with 15 minutes to go in an attacking midfield role. Much rather that than having to swap all our defenders round to move Can into midfield or having to bring on someone like Rossiter/Williams because we have no other option. No doubt Gerrard will get some game time between now and rest of the season (and prob start FA Cup final if we were to get there) but for the long term future of the club and Rodgers' reputation, I think he's learnt that if he brings Gerrard right back into the team it's going to cause problems. He only has to deal with Gerrard sulking for 3 months, but bringing him back and dropping someone else could cause issues going into the new season.
Bring him on to take the penalty He'd have to come on for Coutinho IMO. Therefore, we'd have to be two or three up too
Also with Lucas to come back, Sakho due back and Rodgers tempted to move Can into mid while keeping Lovren going in defence..... I hope Gerrard doesnt walk back into this team
You make it sound like Rodgers is trapped in a confined space, beating off zombie-Johnson. Is it really that difficult not to pick someone? And no, Gerrard shouldn't walk (or even run) back into the team. It's a winning and the fixture pile-up should ease a bit now (I think). Why make any unnecessary changes?
If Gerrard e.g. did a Sturridge and injured himself in training again so that he would miss the rest of the season, would it be weird to think that he'd already played his last game for LFC?
Yeah I suppose in a way, but the Gerrard Roy of the Rovers has long gone and even though he is still useful I really want us to get cracking on now without him in the team. So to answer you, without trying to sound disrespectful, maybe a little but I'd soon get over it
It seemed to be difficult to not pick him when he was playing like absolute ****e and we had Manquillo just sat on the bench. So yeah, I'm pretty happy he seems to have finally realised how **** Johnson actually is.
When you say beating off, you mean stopping him from getting near the team right?...... Because if you meant the other kind of beating off...
that looks exactly like something I'd grab to clean the glass on my fish tanks with WTF is with the image too, is that stevie as a vampire?
