Sorry if this has already been discussed but couldn't see it anywhere.

Just picked this up off the Liverpool official site..fantastic news can't wait to see him flying again and to see how he teams up with the new signings (just keep him away from the corner taking)

"I feel really good and I'm back kicking balls again - it's all positive," said Gerrard. "I should be back in full training with the team on Thursday or Friday of next week.

"I won't be involved against Stoke next Saturday but my plan is to hopefully be involved in the game against Tottenham. It will be Kenny's decision when I come back in.

"I need to get some full training with the team under my belt and I'll have a better idea of my fitness condition when I play in a practice match which is being arranged

He goes on to say that he is 'fitter than ever' and to thank the Liverpool medical team.

it will be great to see him on the pitch again.

Think that would leave us to exposed on the wings, both downing and particularly suarez
like to roam inside, so I think this would just leave big gaps.

Actually, I was thinking more of Suarez being allowed to drift in and Downing switching sides to cross it in. There isn't really a formation I can write out to describe what I'm talking about.

It's a 4-3-2 formation, but Downing is free to switch sides and even act as an attacking mid. It allows fluid passing along the front trio and crosses can come in front any angle. Carroll waits in the box, and the defenders don't know where to mark him from and Suarez positions himself on the edge for some trickery.

got an idea what you mean and it sounds great from an attacking sense, but as I said it will leave gaps for other teams to exploit. whether they will have a chance to is another matter but remember last season (west ham away?) when we played some kind of diamond?

if not training or having a no preseason makes him fitter than ever, and it his age means then ok but personally i think he is talking bollox.

He might be rested but i highly doubt he is the fittest he has ever been

In hinsight it is clear that Gerrard has been injured for the best part of 2 seasons. It is a testimony to his skill and will that he managed to perform at the level that he did.

We are led to believe that his condition has now been reapaired and that he has been able to build up his his recovery training to the point where he feels fitter than he has for a very long time. If that is true and his recovery continues then we will have a player who even at 80% is far better than the vast majority of players in the Premiership.

I still think Stevie needs to change his game and let others do their share of running or he will pick up more and more injuries.

He's got a great football brain and if he is to start every game he needs to slow down so that we can get the most out of him for another 3 years.

in fairness I think a REASONABLE person might interpret gerrard's comments as him feeling no niggles or pains for the first time in a long time, a REASONABLE person would also realise that there is abolutely no way he is fit for a football match and will take 2-3 months to really get there provided he doens't pick up an injury as is common on players retruns.

Older cant stay fit for a full season and makes us predictable, definately over the 'Hill' perofrmance wise. Not sure if it is good or bad, he should start on the bench against stoke

Or a REASONABLE person would read it as EXACTLY what he said, ie 'fitter than ever' than than looking for a hidden meaning to back up a pointless argument ?

and king eric proves he is not very reasonable but in fact a wum... not that we didn't know ;)

Of course me being reasonable... well i was actually defending your wummery by pointing out that gerrard could not be as fit as he claims simply as in the same interview he states he's not in full trianing. But of course you wouldn't see that being just out to wum anyone you can.... you assumed any liveprool fan would instantly be against you seeing as all you do is wum... and so you didn't even bother to think maybe i was'nt responding to you in the first place <laugh> ah well...
