Not sure why we have yet another thread about Fergie and one about Spurs fans so i thought it might be a good idea to actually talk about something relevant to LFC http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/welcome-to-600-club-stevie Here's hoping for a win on Sunday to mark the occassion. Feel free to post favourite moments rather than droning on about how he's "lost his legs" etc etc
Goal against Olympiacos, it was the very important first step to CL victory, made all the more sweeter because the timing and Gerrard's comments the day before
The moment we started to believe. And I agree with you Billy on recent threads.
No mate, although that is also one of my favs. The vid is of the header against Milan, good goal but the arm gestures to the crowd as he ran back to the half way was just as important, that's when I first thought we have a chance.
Many good memories Derby goals, screaming into the camera at Cold Trafford, the Steven gerrard FA Cup final vs West Ham, Olympiakos etc etc. Not his most important goal ever put probably one of my faves:
I thought it was just a consilation at the time; it was Slicer's goal that got me believing (again) I started to believe we could win it after we beat Juventus. Even had a bet with a mate, a straight Liverpool to win CL or not, tgats confidence
I'll never forget this moment.
Legend!! How many clubs in England wish they'd have had a player of his quality playing for them for 600 games, and all his career?
Mellor... Lovely cushioned header... TO GERRAAAAAAAAARD OHHHHH YA BEAUTAAAAAAY WHAT A HIT SON, WHAT A HIT
Too many great goals to mention them all -- almost 168, actually! -- our Stevie doesn't like scoring sh*t tap ins! Here are a few of my highlights: *The Olympiacos goal, with hysterical Andy Grey commentary. *His headed goal in the final v Milan, along with the accompanying arm waving to the crowd to gee them up! * The Steven Gerrard FA cup final. Two cracking goals--one being one of the best ever scored in a cup final, IMO--and he played two wonder passes to set up two identikit goals (one for Crouch and one for Cisse, the Crouch one was ruled out for offside, I think!). He also scored in the penalty shoot out, and I haven't even mentioned his colossal work rate in tracking back, tackling and closing men down. One of his best ever performances, surely? *The Middlesborough goal, IMO one of his top 5 goals. *The screaming volley he scored in the world club championship final, although people rarely mention it! *Thought he's scored some immense free kicks -- usually screamers, like the one against Newcastle -- but the one v Aston Villa where he beautifully curls it into the top right-hand corner was a personal favourite. * Germany 1 - England 5. Brilliant goal just before half time to set up out rout of the teutons. Played brilliantly with Scholes. I always wondered what might have been if those two had started more games as our default central midfield pairing, instead of both being played out of position. Also, I like the part where he takes the p*ss out of Didi by knocking it past him three times in a row. Loved Didi, too, but that was hilariously done. * His double slide challenge on Jagielka in the Derby. Tackled him, chased him as he ran back to recover the ball and then tackled him again. Just showed his tackling ability, work rate and tenacity. Another one sticks in my mind, as well, where he ran a good 40 yards and put in a perfect sliding challenge to nick the ball off a players foot. Can't remember who we were playing, though. Again showcased his energy and ability. If only he could still do that for us! The boy's been immense for us and one of the best all-round midfield players I've ever seen. He could run at teams, pass through teams, pass over teams with long balls, close men down, tackle and score (wonder) goals! Very few English players can boast talent in all those areas. Stevie's a legend and would have been beloved at whatever club he was at -- we're just very lucky he played for us! The fact that I've seen, amongst others, some die-hard Chelsea (and even Man Utd) fans saying Gerrard was their favourite player just tells it all, really. Well, that's the end of my paean. I could wax lyrical about the boy all day but we should just post some more videos and let his imperious play do the talking! P.S. Could someone let me know how to do real bullet points (MITO?), I had a play around but couldn't get it to work. Something involving ' ' and ' ', I think, but not sure!
