I am going to Stevenage on Wednesday and travelling to pay on the day. Does anyone know how many tickets we have sold ?
At what time did your game get called off today? What happens with any tickets that you bought? Do you get refunds, or can you use the tickets for the re-arranged match? Had any of you already set out on the journey?
I'm reserving my comments now regarding the cancellation...I will wait and see what triple hump camel has to say first...he already knows my thoughts...lol
brb you took the words out of my mouth - am watching the Saints v Chelsea game & keeping warm for Man Utd v Spurs for the benefit of Simply Posh - you can get all you want cheaper on Amazon or Ebay - without having to miss any football.
On a more serious note Why did it take until 12.30 for the referee to arrive at the ground - to obviously make an instant decision to call off the game ? At the time it wasn't raining very hard by any stretch of the imagination - not to the extent that the rain that fell this morning could have made any appreciable difference to a decision that could ( should ) have been obvious a lot earlier. I told brb that the Stevenage groundsman should have realised, at least first thing this morning ( or probably last night ), that the pitch was in such a condition as to make it necessary for the referee to be advised to arrive a lot earlier to make a decision that would have been fairer to everyone.
I've sent a tweet to Stevenage FC but don't expect a reply. All efforts were made via our travel arranger to check the game was still on. At midday we proceeded in the knowledge that the game could be cancelled but no subsequent pitch inspection had been carried out by the referee. WHY NOT????????? At sometime between 12.30 to 12.40 we were advised the game had been called off and the coach turned around. But then what else did we really expect from this guy...https://en-gb.facebook.com/pages/An...o-step-on-to-a-football-pitch/200592823331517 I assume this picture must have been taken sometime between midday and 1pm, it says 5hrs ago on twitter but does not give minutes... please log in to view this image
That's disgusting. When I was refereeing, I was always told that if a game might be in danger of being called off and I couldn't get there 4 hours before the KO, then a local referee would be contacted to make the decision. As I only got to be a class2, that meant any class 2 or class 1 ref could be contacted and would inspect the pitch first. That was before referees became 'professional' though. I would have thought something like that would still be in place though
