vs Football for a fiver returns a with it brings fans Charlton didn't even know they had down to the valley for what will be a tricky encouter with the surprise package of the season so far Stevenage. Charltons last outing saw them draw 1-1 with relegation battling Rochdale, while Stevenage lost 1-0 on wednesday night to Notts County conceding in the 90th minute. When the two sides met earlier in the season at the Lamex Stadium Stevenage inflicted Charltons first league defeat of the season running out 1-0 winners after Stacy Longs 12th minute shot to a wicked deflection to loop over the stranded keeper Ben Hamer. This game I also seem to remember that Chris Powell changed the defence around by putting Morrison in at right back even though there was nothing wrong with Solly. Stevenage have had a terrific season so far and currently occupy the last playoff place with 48 points from 29 games. I believed that the departure of manager Graham Westley to Preston would see them start to slip down the table but they have proved me wrong and have a great chance of making it 3 success promotions on the spin. They have been quite prolific on their travels so far this season smashing 6 past Colchester and 5 past Rochdale. Charlton's Home Record - W9 D6 L0 GF31 GA11 PTS 33 Stevenage's Away Record - W7 D5 L4 GF23 GA12 PTS 26 There is only one previous competitive meeting between the two sides and this was the game played earlier in the season which shows how far Stevenage have come or how far we have fallen depending on how you want to look at it. Top 3 Goalscorers - Charlton - Stevenage 14 Wright-Phillips - 9 Beardsley 12 Jackson - 7 Laird 8 Kermogant - 5 Charles My team to play against Stevenage - Hamer Solly Morrison Taylor Wiggins Green Hughes Stephens Evina Wright-Phillips Kermogant Subs Sullivan Cort Pritchard Wagstaff Hayes (Clarke should be no where near the first team) This could be an extremely difficult fixture for us and if we don't up our game I could see us getting a right hiding. If we play like we did on Tuesday it will only be a matter of time before the huge crowd makes its frustrations known. This would be massively damaging to our team in my opinion as know way in hell do they deserve to be booed and jeered off the pitch the way they've performed this season! However if the big crowd do get behind the boys well how many of the Stevenage players have played infront on 25,000plus crowds a few are bound to get nervous (I hope) Anyway im gonna say 1-1 for this one and start to nervously look over my shoulder at Sheff United
Excellent effort Belv. Agree with most of your analysis too. I think we will lose this game, possibly heavily. I just think that our recent knack of getting away with poor performances will catch up with us. The good news is that I am consistently wrong with my predictions so we will probably win!
1-0 Bradley @ 28mins. For most of the game Stevenage will batter us but Bradley will finally prove that he is better than -
Just side-stepping the actual game a minute... I can't explain in words how much I now hate former Stevenage Manager Graham Westley. Back-to-back promotions and then play off potential in his first League 1 campaign... And he heads to the bright lights off Preston North End. He's part of the problem in Football. If we ever ended up with a manager like that it would seriously harm my viewing pleasure.
Going to be a buzzing atmosphere at the Valley tomorrow with a sell out crowd!! 3-0 to the Mighty Addicks!!! Kermo/BWP/Waggy
I'm going along today prepared to be really unhappy. Not a boo boy you understand. But this has bee a poor week for us with another crap performance, an utterly ridiculous decision re Hayes and rumours of a new ground just to unsettle us all. The cherry on the pie for me was CP's interview on the OS where he was saying how difficult it was on Tuesday having an unbalance team with players out of position. Well no sh@t Sherlock!!! If you pick a left back at right back and a right winger at left wing etc than that's what sodding happens!!!!! So I've been in a bad mood all week and now my surgery has been postponed for 10 days cos I've got a poxy cold and I'm really just in the mood for a shyte performance today!!!!! At least the sun is shining! Yours. Miserable of Dartford.
Ye gods - 25500 tickets sold, according to the O/S. Gutted I won't be there. We've got to win this one, and win well. 3-1 to us. COYR!
Nah Tewks. Deffo just a cold. Enough to stop the anaesthetist but not enough to keep me from the Valley. Looks like you and me are the grumpy twins this morning!!!
Can't take any chances with an anaesthetic. I was going to come down to Dartford to see my folks this weekend, but two meetings got moved, one to late yesterday and one, 100 miles away, to first thing Monday morning. If I'd taken the match in, I'd have seen them for less than a day, all told. Down for a week for Mother's Day and my Mum's birthday on the 20th, going to take in the Yeovil game while I'm down. What a crowd, eh?
I'll be here Tewkes. Nervous as hell, though. We've gone stale of late, and that, combined with the fact that there'll be a few people in the crowd who have never heard of Stevenage and will expect us to pummel them, may well contribute to an icy atmosphere. I can't see us getting anything more than a scrappy draw. Hope I'm wrong though. Come on Chrissy.
I have thought about it before but have never thought I'm good enough at writing to actually do it! and seeing as Hayes as left on loan it looks like I'm gonna have to put Clarke in even though to me it seems like a wasted place on the bench
I will sing a song for you then boys....I`ll be leaving my south norwood bunker in the shadow of selhurst in about 20 mins.... We really need to put on a show please please please lets hope CP plays players where they are meant to play. Had awful though earlier that CP will player Yan and clarke upfront NIGHTMARE
