Bit of a long read but nothing groundbreaking if you cant be arsed to.

So, should he get a call up, and will he this season?

He's certainly good enough, but unless we're playing one of the top teams away, Capello won't even bother looking. We'll be lucky if he sends the tealady's grandson's best mate's Dad's friend's brother to watch anyone at SJP.

  3. I don't think he's as good as some of the others, but it's all about form, and he's been in better form that most of the other England players.

I'd put him on the bench at least.

Technically I don't think he's as good as some of the other English CBs, but he does make up for it with immense effort and dedication. Has any defender cleared more balls off the line?

    Okay. He deserves it but

    1. Capello doesnt know where Newcastle is

    2. Even a game in London on a Monday night and he still sends Pearce to look over the team

It depends how he does throughout this season if he gets a call up for a friendly before the 2012 Euros begin.

If he's consistent then he may be able to make the provisional call up. Also, he's got to avoid a re-occurrence of the niggling injuries he's struggled with for a few seasons.

I'd love him to get called up and with Ferdinand pretty much finished internationally and Terry not getting any younger either there's a need for young CB's who can be the mainstay's of the side for the next 6 or so years. Dawson and Cahill look like the front-runners, and I don't think either are outperforming Taylor right now.

Dawson is injured too for the next 2 months or something like that (More like a coke ban) so he could well get his chance.

Yes, how envious we are of Titus Bramble at the fearsome heart of Sunderland's back line.

Apparently Taylor's jaw dropped when Carroll broke the news to him that he was in the frame.

I would love to see him do his "I've just been shot by a sniper" collapse to earn us a penalty in the 2012 Euro's final.

    Would laugh my bollocks off!!

Capello has located SJP. He watched our Fulham game, so for people like Psycho who mock this article...who was Capello watching in that game?

He's been ****e for a while as well mate. At least my blinkers can see it though.
Zamora? Dinnar, it wouldn't have been Steven Taylor though.

Is this the same Zamora who was confirmed to be injured long before the weekend of the game? Well in that case it must have been Steve Sidwell...idiot!

I expect he will be but I also imagine he'll need to sustain that form over a much longer period to be selected. He is well down the pecking order now, and should be. However if he can maintain his current form he could be as good as any of them (well not as good as Jones will be) He has equally as much talent for Cahill for me. Problem is Cahill has taken his opportunity with both hands. Jagielka is ahead, Jones, Smalling, you can see why he'll have a tough time forcing his way in. I wouldn't pick him at present but he certainly deserves to be in the mix.

  18. Technically he's not as good, but only Cahill has been a better CB than him so far, and that's only because he's been scoring for club and country.

Aye mate, notice the question mark and the word dinnar after. Sidwell has probably got more chance of playing for England then Taylor has.

In fact i've probably got more chance of playing for England then Taylor has.

Ah I forgot about Jones and Smalling. Both young and playing for Man Utd, they wont even need to play well to be in every squad til 2020. (Not to say they havent played well to date.)
