    Latest Fitness update for Steven...

Kenny Dalglish today confirmed Steven Gerrard will not be available to face Wigan on Wednesday night.

The skipper continues to make good progress in his recovery from an ankle infection but will not be ready to take on the Latics.

Dalglish told his pre-match press conference: "We don't have any problems, apart from Jack Robinson, Steven (Gerrard) and Fabio (Aurelio) as well.

"The longer term ones aren't in the squad."

Asked if Gerrard would feature at any point over the festive period, Dalglish added: "It remains to be seen, but we won't be making any comments on it."

It is, of course, just my interpretation, but I'd say it is now unlikely we'll see Steven in a Red shirt before new year. This makes the recall of Jonjo far more logical and reasoned than if Steven was poised for a return.

How does everyone feel about Steven's continued absence?

I don't get it, has he got some sort of joint/tendon condition? First an infected groin...now the ankle. I though only breaks in the skin got infected???

Why rush him back. We are doing fine without him so why risk pushing him too early the way we have so many times in the past <ok> Better to have a 100% fit player back than 85/90% fit.

All seems a bit strange to me-I'm afraid we might never see him back.

Bloody hell, I'd forgotten Aurelio was still here, he must be made of meringue.

Do you think they're trying everything on him? Rubbing milk on his bones etc.

    I said sorry, Bluff.
I was bored, don't know what the weather's like in the colonies but it's gloomy over here, and it's 30 hours to the next game.
If I can't cheer myself up writing drivel on here I'll be forced to go and watch some Colin Firth films(movies) to remind me how dull life really could be.

    That was Han, in Carbonite...
A cryonic alloy, carbonite was originally used to keep tibanna gas fresh. The chamber in the Cloud City of Bespin was reconfigured to provide stasis for Luke Skywalker for his transport to Emperor Palpatine. It was tested on Han Solo, whom Boba Fett then transported to Jabba the Hutt to collect a price on Solo's head. It was then used to transport criminals. One known side effect of being encased in carbonite is temporary blindness.

I was just giving a suggestion of Cryogenically freezing him until his body has healed itself, a bit like Jason X ( terrible movie but the theme I am after is perfect in it). Actually it is really gloomy out, it feels more like April than Decemeber.

I sorted out my two daughter's DVDs on Saturday. The oldest (21) is getting 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas' and the youngest (17) is getting 'They Live', a massively underrated John Carpenter film witnh the best fist fight scene I've ever seen. It goes on for about 15 minutes. If you haven't seen it, well worth a look <ok>
