"We are buzzing with the three points - it's our second away win this season." "We are up to 30 points, and it's great that there is a decent gap between us and the bottom teams." "There's no reason why we can't get more than 40 and possibly get a top-half finish." "But the priority is to stay in the league and a good run now would help us move closer to that." My theory is that the longer you stay somewhere, the more you get to like it and the more it feels like home. Am I clutching at straws? Give us a sign, Steven.
Any player worth his salt wants his loan club to do well so it's no surprise that he's saying all the right things. He's made friendships that will last a while, no doubt, and he's got some camaraderie with his team mates. But signing? Not a chance in hell. He's off to White Hart Lane come end of season, having trebled his value no doubt.
nah i agree with Knackeredjack, not a chance in hell he'll sign for us, worth too much to Spurs unfortunately...
As Knackered says, saying all the right things is part of the job, back to Spurs is his next step IMO. We could get another up and coming player to replace him though,we will be a good breeding ground for the top 4 clubs to send their youngsters
The only hope we have of keeping him is if Spurs qualify for an automatic champions league place and decide to buy in a couple of European experienced CB's....then and only then do we have a SLIM CHANCE of signing him.....as even if the aforementioned situation does happen, based on his performances, we would be competing with the teams finishing 4ht-7th who would be able to pay him a bigger wage than we will, making the chance even slimmer
Unfortumately, i believe we cannot afford to buy him/wages come the end if the season. His young head will be turned and we will have no chance should the martket even be available (unless the club decides to break the bank and then suffer the repurcussions of established players then demanding parity.....not good) Lets not forget who we are and where we are from. If we help produce fantastic Btitish playesr in Williams/ Taylor/ Allen/ McEachran/ Coulker/ Dyer/ Graham/ Sinclair et al, we will soon have all the top teams lining up to let their up and coming play for us. The difficulty is in keeping a core squad good enough to reep the benefits and keep a fantastic manager interested.
I know alot Will disagree but i Will just be happy with 17th place! Something that we have been extremly lucky with is injuries, hopefully that Will continue until the end of the season and we Get to stay up, but i wouldnt fancy us starting euro league in july/ august with our small squad not getting proper rest in the summer, we have had knocks but not to key personell like ash ,britton, allen and vorm . The players would like to play in europe and so would i but only if we had enough syre gry in depth with our squad which we dont have right now
Lol! Norweigen i pad sorry, preditcts all the wrong things when you type in English! Strength in depth i meant
Maybe Caulker will be heading back to the smoke but Sig seems to be loving us http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11731/7491250/Sigurdsson-seeks-Swans-stay
Yes, much more positive, that. He's gone a step further and has hinted at a permanent move. Haven't looked at his contract situation at Hoffenheim but doesn't he have a fair bit to run on it? Not sure. May cost us a pretty penny but on his performances so far probably worth every bit if it comes off.
Im sure if he was at Wigan he would be going out with a Wigan girl etc etc I cant see it happening, he is too young IMO to seek a move away from a top 4 club and im sure he is thinking he has what it takes to make it there, there are a few flaws in his game though, not quite the finished article by any means but for a 19yr old to come in and perform well overall he deserves massive credit. Good luck to the boy, there will be plenty of others just like him that would probably love a season on loan at swansea,so im not too concerned about him going, love it if he stayed of course but dont see it happening
With you on that. I'm hoping for all Spurs CB's to do well and help them to CL qualification, and then for them to buy more! Unlikely but you never know. The other scenario involves Caulker going back to Spurs and raving about some of our players, leading Spurs to try and nick them...
He won't stay. He's young and has proved himself at this level. He's got to be worth at least £6million and that's twice what we could afford, and that was even if Spurs let him go, which I very much doubt.
Imagine if you guys got caulker (terrific defender i must add) and we got naughton in the summer permantly... Old "arry" wouldnt know what hes lost You never know how generous your chairman could be come hopefully survival for you guys come the next window, i reckon rodgers had bennett lined up as caulkers replacement come the summer though which may give an indication of whats going to happen with him!
