Strange one this. I saw Steve Yates at the game last night; dressed smart casual and
chatting with the fans. He had no role last night, someone else was doing balls, cones etc.
I can't think it pays well, and it seems like a very time-consuming job. I wonder if it's a way
back into the game to be groomed for some sort of management/coaching role.

Ward on Yates return....

“Over the last few days we have spoken to Steve Yates about the kit manager’s job, following a call to him from the club, and he will start his duties on Monday. He’s an absolute novice as far as the job is concerned, but I have people willing to help him. We invited him to the game tonight to meet a few people and to see what happens on a matchday and so we have another Bristol Rovers guy about the place who wants to be around the team. It will be a different environment for him but, at the same time, he’s another person I can rely on to work hard and he will do the job to the best of his ability. He worked with me as a player; we sold him for £750,000 and have got him back for free! He’s a Rovers guy and no one would ever question his loyalty to the club. He has come into a different position with the club, of course, but I am pleased that I will be working with him again.”
