Newly promoted Championship side Bristol City are keeping tabs on the situation of Leeds United striker Steve Morison, according to FLW sources.

FLW understands Bristol City are keen on a deal for Steve Morison
The former Welsh international has struggled to breakthrough at Elland Road, finding first team appearances very limited – he started only 17 games in the Championship last season.
FLW understands that he could be set to move on from the Elland Road outfit this summer, especially after the club announced the signing of Chris Wood from Leicester City earlier this week on a four-year deal.
The 31-year-old who spent two years in the Premier League with Norwich City, would be a solid addition to City’s squad with his experience of playing at Championship level with Millwall and Leeds United.
Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill will be hoping to strengthen his squad in the right areas to compete in the Championship next season, however, given the manner in which they won the title it may well be that his best business will be keeping hold of the players that performed so well last season.

Well he is, hasn't been any good for a long while now. Having said that we all thought Wilbraham was a terrible signing so I'll reserve my judgment but I'd hope the rumours aren't true and were aiming for better. The big worry for me are all the leeds fans saying they want rid, but they all say how hard he works.... I mean that's all well and good but we don't want players where their only contribution is working hard, especially if its a striker because i'd rather have a lazy bastard who scores 20 plus than someone who will play 40 games working hard and getting about 5 goals and a few assists. This is a classic city signing of the last time we were in the championship. Signing players the other teams in our leagues don't want. So if we sign him then fine, I'll back him but im hoping he is not brought in as our first team striker, more back up and we sign another 1 maybe 2 who are younger, faster and more prolific.

People said things like that about Matt Smith Shiny - including myself I have to admit.
Sometimes a combination of style and a good manager can bring out the best in players who just don't come good elsewhere.

It can also work the other way too - eg El Abd and Waggy - well thought of at Brighton and Charlton respectively and yet failed to do anything much for us. Then there's Killa - my least favourite player ever at AG - yet the Preston fans like him.
    It's a funny old game.....

Not a bad player as a squad member...

I appreciate the "we said that about Wilbs/Smith" argument but we won't get that with every signing! If we did then we might as well just sign every terrible player going knowing that they will score 20 goals each! There is a reason Leeds don't want him, Palace had more than a good enough reason to let AB go. They were building for the future and they knew Wilbs just wasn't part of that. Smith needed game time, that's why Fulham let us have him. Leeds are willing to offload Morrison because he's been rubbish for them, I don't want us signing other teams rubbish. It's what we did the last time we were in the championship and look what happened there...

You could use the same argument that says Leeds also let Matt Smith go to Fulham, and if Fulham were to let us sign him permanently are they not just offloading a player they don't want or cant accommodate ?

Norwich fan in peace, Morison did a job for us but IMO is way past it now. A lot of City fans never really did take to him (myself included), as he always appeared to be a lazy bastard which flies in face of the post above. I'd steer well clear, there's better out there IMO

He's already signed for Notts County having been released by Huddersfield, but no thanks anyway. He's not a Championship player

Jon Stead was one of the better players, sadly the rest did not match him on the downward spiral.

I loved Stead but the fact he was one of our best players proves how poor we really were. We don't want to be signing players like Morrison and saying "He works harder than everyone else" after every defeat. Would make more sense to sign a younger version of him who has the same work rate. At least then we have sell on potential, the chance to mould a player our way and someone who isn't just here for the money.

We need proven winners, but what club let's them go where they want? Tough and correct decisions are required to get the job done and surely but surely this has to be the week to get the process started.

RR, I meant Steve Morrison sounds like a Jon Stead type player, not should we resign Stead
