Playing well and scoring against a pretty decent defense is great news for so many reasons (confidence/ confirmation he's quality/ helps England etc etc)

I'll have mixed feelings in the England/ Wales match- if Cahill struggles to cope with him it will be great news for Norwich but bad news for England!

Best possible result on Tuesday would be a 4-3 England win with Morrison getting a hatrick. :)

Haha... that's wishful thinking! I don't think a Welshman would have the guts to say we'll score three goals! Shame Bellamy won't play after a joke of a yellow card meant he has an automatic ban.

  6. I'd prefer 5-4 with a Morison hatrick and a Crofts goal, but I'm just greedy.

I couldn't believe that. I have a bit of love/hate feelings about Bellars. Love the way he played for norwich and the nice things he has said about the club since, Hate that fact he seems to be a bit of an arse. Would have liked to have seen him play though and it really is a shame it can be taken away from him by a referees error.

Yeah personally, I think he's a wasted talent and his temperament has got in the way of what could have been an excellent career (as opposed to a very good one). He's clearly got the technique, and for me the best football he played was at Blackburn where he was banging in goals left right and centre. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, eh...

I guess you love the fact he's Welsh and hate the fact he's from Cardiff? :)

I couldn't give a toss where he's from in Wales! If he ran up to me at Ninian after scoring a goal doing the ayatollah, and I was in the front row, then that'd probably annoy me but mostly because he'd be trying to incite something. Thankfully, the only time that happened was when little Joey Allen scored in front of us and ran straight to us after putting us 1-2 up with 5 minutes to go. History will show it was 2-2, and we have Mike Dean to thank for bottling it and giving Cardiff a soft penalty in injury time...

Really, it's fun if your mate supports a rival club for banter... but that's as far as it goes for me.

And that is absolutely the way it should be. A brief moment of thinking 'ew' when somebody tells you they were born in the 'other' place and then a bit of banter. And deep down, I don't really HATE the boys down the road. Hate is a very strong word and I have no reason to hate them. It is just really nice to beat them. You always want your team to be the best locally if they cant be the best nationally.

I guess in Wales it is a little different as if you are the best locally that automatically makes you the best nationally (with no disrespect to Wrexham).

Exactly! With Swansea/Cardiff there's a bit more history to it due to the "we're a better city" thing, and Cardiff got named capital which for some reason still rankles with a minority. There's lots of other factors to figure in, like Cardiff getting a lot of money off the Assembly/EU and the rest of Wales, us included, feeling a bit hard done by.

Having said that... it's football. It's a shame there's so much ammo for both sides of the Swansea/Cardiff thing, because it means it never really goes away. A visit to our forum on any given day proves that!

  13. Mike Dean, bottle it!? You must have him confused with someone else.......(served with just a pinch of sarcasm)

In fairness, he did get whacked on the head by a pound coin thrown by the Cardiff faithful, which probably had a bearing on his decision. He went on record afterwards saying it wasn't anything to do with the decision, but as it was he stopped the Swans winning 2-1 in the last ever derby at Ninian, and we still had to dodge hundreds of mentalists on the blue side of the fence, who threw bricks, stones, bottles and god knows what else.

Probably a good thing we didn't win... thinking about it!

I know a couple of people who are Ipswich fans. I'm on very good terms with one and he invited me to the pub the day after the 1p5wich game - unaware of this. The night went smoothly with banter between the two of us. He was very kind about Norwich and had accepted that they had got beaten by the better team. Another Ipswich fan I know of said 'I hate Norwich but they played well.'

I understand the banter side of things, but not hating a club. But we should be pleased the rivalry isn't as bad as Celtic/Rangers.

Cardiff city, such a family club!

I remember them coming to Carrow road a couple of years ago. I looked at the away fans an every single one of them was a male aged between 18 & 40. Only 1 or 2 wearing club colours but most wearing burberry lol. Normally you get a mixture of families, old folk, ladies etc. Not with them.

maybe it was only those fans that could afford to travel from one side of the country to another. I find it hard enough to find enough money just to get to work lol

Good to see our man playing, and on target.

As a Norwich fan with strong affiliation to Ireland, I wish I could see Hoolahan playing for them. I see Andrews, another midfielder currently languishing on loan with the binners gets a full 90 minutes, yet Wes doesn't even make the squad.

Heaven knows, as they played out a dire 0-0, they could have done with the creativity he could offer. Now automatic qualification is most unlikely.

As they say in Dublin, Trapattoni get the feck out! <ok>

In fairness, and before any wandering Cardiff not606ers get their backs up, I'll state that our club has just as many idiots looking for a fight with the other South Walians. We're definitely a lot more of a "family club" than we were 10 years ago, I assume Cardiff are too but I don't know enough to comment really.

  20. I can't understand why he's not worthy of a place anywhere in the squad. Does he know he's Irish!?
