Too big a job for him clearly. Confidence would be low after he blew Derby's chances of promotion

Good for him, better to stop at some quaint little club in the shadow of Nottingham Forest than try and better himself.

I think his actions here will surely rule him out of the job come end of season. Had a chance to immediately win the fans over by keeping us up but bottled it.

I would rather have a young ambitious manager from the elsewhere that has a vibrant footballing philosophy. Warbuton etc. No more fecking dinosaurs of yesteryear. McClaren is not the answer and should never have been.New ideas, new style, new game plan! How on earth anyone with that type of mindest would fit into our current regime I have no idea though!

For me it starts with employing a competent MD. In turn, get in either a competent DoF or give managerial responsbility to the "head coach" and accept that the continental model doesn't work. If I was Ashley, that would my first port of call would be Nicola Cortese. Experienced, successful, trustworthy, competent. Then he does the rest. I would happily accept any "Cortese" appointment.

I do know I am in complete cloud cuckoo land with this, by the way.

Thankyou Tory Government for putting me in this situation. Feckthe Posh Twaats in charge! Had our local Tory candidate knock on my door last week, Cambridge graduate, formed a charitable Chamber Music group to benifit the local populace!!!!
Honestly, do these people have any idea about what is going on in the world at the minute?? Fecking Chamber Music!!! Feck off you posh CAANT!!

You are only in cloud cuckoo land because you know Ashley will choose precisely the wrong person for this job. The club needs a DOF who will look at rebuilding all aspects of the playing side of the club from the academy through to the first team and then a first team coach. I think McLaren would be very good at the latter.

We need Nicola Cortese to replace Charnley. What's he up to these days?

Latest from McLaren is that he was "never tempted" by the NUFC job. Interesting, if that were the case why do none of his previous soundbytes have the words "I am not interested in going to Newcastle"?

Again the question is when is the owner going to realise how badly his investment is being managed? From the Forbes press release, I guess not anytime soon......
