The Premier League strugglers are in the market for a new manager after Harry Redknapp resigned this week. please log in to view this image McClaren, also linked with the Newcastle job recently, spent just under three months coaching under Redknapp at Loftus Road prior to becoming head coach at Derby in September 2013. The former England boss is reported to be of interest to QPR, along with Real Madrid assistant coach Paul Clement and former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood, who is currently the favorite to fill the position. When asked about the speculation at his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon, McClaren said: "Shall we move on? Good try! "I answered that [speculation] a few weeks ago, and it is the same answer now. Nothing changes. We laugh it off and move on quick. "So let's focus and concentrate on the job in hand which is trying to get Derby County into the Premier League." Still a little surprised by McClaren re-emergence, the "wally with a brolley" still hangs over him imho. suddenly a few years on, he is supposedly hot property ?? As for Hoddle, his quick exit, only confirms to me, his lack of contribution.
He has always been a good coach, moment of madness with the brolly and the press slaughteted him, as though holding an umbrella made him a bad manager/coach
McClaren: KPD is right Clement: Has never even managed a youth team Sherwood: Falls out with everyone and is a bit thick COLIN: Old, past it, probably never had it...................... (at PL level) A terrible list of candidates made even worse considering the first two never had a notion of coming to QPR in the first place. There used to always be a few decent managers out of work at any given time but right now incredibly there's no-one.
Really not surprised by this tbh! He has a lot of historical connection to Derby and he is doing such a sterling job there. They will be in the prem next year in my opinion and fair play to Derby and Steve!
