ive seen a little bit on WBA being interested in Harper, although a good keeper and he has been a great servant to the club i think Tim Krul is ready to be number 1 next season and maybe that will give forster the chance if called upon to state his claim.

    Thoughts.

  2. Nah, Harper should be atleast number 2 and has earned his right to stay, not only through loyalty but through good performances. Forster should go out on loan, and if he doesn't like it, he can **** off and be sold.

    Bit harsh on Forster, tash.

I think Harper has been a brilliant and loyal servant to the club, but with Krul looking good and Forster having a terrific loan spell at Celtic, i think his chances of first team football are over.

Forster was very well thought of both at Norwich and Celtic, so he must at least be given a chance to show Pardew what he can do.

I'd retain Harper. It's a tough one because we don't want to lose either Forster or Krul. Good young keepers who will want to start to make inroads first team wise. For me nothing has changed with regard to keeping, older keepers are still better because of consistency. But the modern day footballer has no patience and they look at keepers like Casillas and think it doesn't matter how old you are. Of course the reality is those guys are few and far between. Look at Joe Hart. he could do no wrong but he had a poor half a season with Man City at the back end, and has been poor for England. Previously the lad could do no wrong so he is not getting the grilling from the media. But it'll only be a couple more mistakes and he'll be considered a liability. Time and experience is something a young player can't buy unfortunately.

If you asked me who is currently the safest pair of hands out of the three, I'd say Harper all day long. They have huge potential but Harps does little wrong. I rate Krul in particular very highly but he is far from the finished product. He's still like a vampire with regards to crosses for a start! Not sure who is next in line mind because Forster has a lot more first team football experience than Krul.

I love Steve Harper in a manly and non-sexual nature.

He's been a great servant to the club and deserves a few more years at the top of his game with Newcastle.

Krul and Forster still have time on their side to battle for the number 1.

Harper should stay and maybe be offered a position on the goalkeeping staff, he has more than earned it in my opinion.

Harper has been a great servant for the club but Krul has already proved himself to be a better 'keeper I think. Having watched him a lot over the years, he offers a lot more than Harper already - apart from experience - and will only get better, for me he should be our number 1 for years to come (he's already an international!). The club need to decide how highly they rate Forster, he was appalling in the reserves a few years ago, but has got better, however if the club do think he's going to stay they have a very hard decision to make. Someone his age needs games, be it in the cup or a a substitute - or even another loan, but to keep him and let Harper go completely may be a mistake, his experience for both young keepers is invaluble. It's a hard decision that probably will be made more difficult in light of his attachment and loyalty to the club and the sale of Nolan etc.

Krul has no where near Harpers level of consistency, and is not in the same league on crosses. (and Harper is not perfect in that regard) I'd worry about this big push to get Krul in now before he is ready. Very few keepers his age are. Harper is still a better keeper for me looking at their performances last season. Krul is typical of young goalkeepers. His highlights are better than Harpers, but equally his lowlights are lower! Consistency is the key in the keeping department, because it is such a cruel role. Mistakes are goals and I reckon Krul still makes more mistakes. As I say Joe Hart is a good guide. He is far better than Krul, yet his inexperience could easily have cost Man City dearly last year with the goals he conceded. And he has been very suspect for England. Tough role.

  16. lol fat ****.

Krul has been excellent for us and he looked excellent in the internationals keeping two clean sheets.

If he doesn't get a proper chance soon he'll most likely move on. He's got too much promise and potential to be sent away on loan or sold.

Forster has been playing against League 1 quality teams in the SPL. He's only decent opponents were Rangers.

Harper and Krul have both proven themselves solid with little fault in the PL. We can't risk only having one proven keeper in the PL if we're really looking to push into the top 10.

    Forster on loan or sold.

Harper - Still #1 for me. He is still a premiership quality goalkeeper and is the most consistent over an extended period of games. Should be our main keeper next season but with Krul given spells as well to bring him on.

Krul - Our keeper for the future and already proven as a capable keeper at prem level. I agree with Warm Pouch, Krul like other young keepers is not able to maintain consistency over long periods of time, although I think at his best he is better than Harper. As stated above give him spells next season to develop him.

Forster - Has done well in the SPL and League One but untested at this level. Loan him out to EPL or Championship to gain more experience but keep for the future if possible. Harper will retire in a few years and as has been mentioned Krul may eventually get tempted away. Certainly do not sell him for a paultry £1.5m.

The problem is that both Krul and Forster have said they want to be No 1 next season. So, if Harper is first choice, they will both want to leave.

Apparently, there is a £1.5m bid in from Celtic for FF. That would solve part of the problem, with the only question then being whether TK or SH gets the shirt for next season.
