CI reporting that we are looking at taking him on loan from the Toon for the rest of the season. They loaned him out to Brighton for a short time earlier this season apparently. Thoughts? IMO he is still a decent keeper and would do a job for us on loan.
Absolute quality Keeper, Shay Given kept him out of the Newcastle side for years however he pushed him very close and when given the chance was arguably as good. I'd rather have this keeper than any of the other candidates being quoted.
I personally would of prefered Dorus De Vries, but ofc he is a good keeper and would no doubt do a job for us. I forgot that he was at Brighton, anyone know how he did there?
From what i saw of their main keeper he could give Gulacsi a run for his money in the howlers department.
I was looking forward to having a good distributor in De Vries, however Harper is a very solid keeper. He's good at communicating, doesn't flap at crosses and has good handling unlike a certain Mr Gulasci. It'll be good to have someone reliable in between the sticks.
Harper's a brilliant stopper. Great distribution is important but let's remember what a goalie's #1 function is. Harper is agile and has good hands.
Harper would be a top signing. Experience is what we need in the net, Basso has proved that this season but he's knocking on now and keeps picking up injuries.
****. Is it the fact Harper has always seemed happy to sit on the bench at Newcastle. He was clearly good enough to be number one at another prem club. Got to wonder why he's never moved. I may be being a bit harsh, but he wasted his prime years. Adam says we have a short list of three, so on to the next one. Would love Harper to come in, but we need someone.
Well Nicky said on Humberside that he is definatly expecting a keeper in this week. Just as well as looks like Basso and Gulasci are buggered
