I love the idea of someone somewhere checking up on Steve Coppell just to make sure that he's still there at his job and hasn't bailed yet.

Someone at our place must have pissed him off big time.
Like I said on another thread, our board knew enough to bring him here, but not enough to keep him

As if you hadnt guessed, I blame the board

If the rumours are true, SL approached SC when SC hadn't applied for the vacant managers job.
SL convinced SC to come to us and then proceeded to sign David James behind SC's back
SC walked away as he didn't appreciate being made to look (more) foolish and having to play players he didnt want

If the rumours are true of course....

Despite some bad press SC is a good football person and although he is reputed to have some minor personal issues he would have been good for Bristol City. His body language in his first interview at Ashton Gate pointed to some background issues that he deemed to be a problem for him going forward, and probably the signing of David James was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Since the day he decided to walk away from what I believe he considered as a hopeless case of owner interference we have faced a steady, and now rapidly escalating, downward spiral that shows no intention of stopping. His short tenure at Ashton Gate is probably why he has decided to stay away from the dugout and taken a more background role where he possibly has the freedom to help make decisions that can help the main person in the inevitable firing line.

If indeed what a lot of us suspect it really happening with BCFC is true then the road to salvation may be a long and whining road. PS: the word pun is intentional and not a misspelling!
