Flying with WBA in 3rd place tonight. Did Henry and Werner miss a trick by not promoting him after they got rid of Kenny or, are West Brom really 9 places and 11 points better than us? I know its early days but there's a 3rd of the season gone.
Sympathy post..... please log in to view this image But you're right, my only doubt is that here comes a Chelsea / Liverpool head coach, and that would be impressive to a WBA team, but would he have commanded the same level of respect if he stayed at Liverpool? Maybe if he had put together a 120 page manual on how to look like David Brent on TV, he may have been given a chance.
Errrr: poll?: a year ago, how many people would have voted for him in first place. Proves a point: young managers reputation means arse all. Results do. Continuously reflagging mid to old feckers careers? You'll get one season, one season only.
Dont need sympathy I'll just delete the thread if no one responded Is this a thinly veiled message to MFG ?
With all due respect to WBA, there is a clear difference between expectations levels at the two clubs in question. For all we know, they could have taken the opposite jobs and the two clubs would have experienced the same outcome! Unfortunately, until we start cloning players or MFG lets us use his time machine it will continue to be down to individual judgement and opinions
I wish Steve Clarke all the best at West Brom. The task he has infront of him there is totally different from the one that would have faced him had he been given the Liverpool job. If you look at it from FSG's perspective then promoting Clarke would have been just too much of a risk.
Sound manager. Had Dalglish had another season and got it right I would imagine Steve WOULD have taken over in a few seasons time. Not to be and Brendan is the man now. Let's hope he is for at least a decade, because this club just cannot keep changing managers any more. Good luck to Steve though, and I honestly think Chelsea may have missed a trick too as a caretaker until Guardiola takes over.
The performances of his team and the table so far don't lie. He is doing a good job. Full stop. Whether he would have been the same at Liverpool following his ex-boss KD is debatable BUT I can't see why not. You speak of expectations. Do they in themselves give you bad results? I would go more with the squad at the club and the manager ability. Starting with squad: was SC left a better squad at WBA and/or did he bring in better new players? Ability: the WBA squad not better than Liverpool's and it is just to pure management ability ? In which case should liverpool not have promoted him? Yes. It was a big risk for the owners and it is early days. So it is all speculation. But didn't they take a risk with Rodgers too?
