Just read this on the BBC website http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18490992 I'm not sure if I'm reading too much into it, but it sounds like he wasn't too impressed with how Kennys sacking was handled by FSG...
I think Clarkes opinion is the same as many Liverpool fans to be frank; Kenny's sacking was unfair and handled badly! Glad that Clarke has said this, to me it proves his honesty and integrity and fits with his handing in his resignation, also think it says heaps about his and Kenny's relationship and respect for each other.
we knew that; a) the day clarke joined he wanted a managers job and this was his way of getting back into it. b) he left the day kenny did but was asked to stay by fsg.... ergo one can only conclude that clarke was not interested in being anyone's assistant but certainly not rodgers'... and no harm there. i think flying all the way to Boston to get the sack and be expected to sit at a baseball game as well is a bit stupid in all honestly and i'm sure i'm not the only one. so i await seeing if kenny is at any LFC games this season or again.
It was hardly unfair and I'm not sure how you'd have preferred it to happen? Not like they didn't offer him a move upstairs and a multi-million severance package. There's no room for sentiment when you want success.
It's pretty obvious that Kenny was treated very poorly by FSG and Clarke is only being loyal to Kenny.
Flying to American to be sacked before having to fly home again is what is viewed as unfair. I, however, think he flew over for discussion with FSG which didn't work out
We will never truly know what transpired between Kenny and FSG. Sure we may read some supposed 'inside' revelation in the future but that is likely to be biased. We do know the outcome and have to accept that right or wrong we now have a new manager and that SC has the kind of job that he's always wanted. As for Kenny then his severance settlement will help to relieve the heartache. I truly hope that we do see him at Anfield again so that we can say thanks.
Being sacked is always tough whether you manage Liverpool or your local Spar. Life's tough, he's a big boy and I'm sure took it well. He's been through worse things all considered. We can't keep making excuses and hyperbolic declamations of betrayal and hurt just because it's Kenny. He should never have taken the job permanently and his decision making last summer has set us back, probably several years back. Every set of fans but our own can see this.
Forget about old man Kenny, Roy Hodgson's sacking was unfair! He was given no time to work his magic and while he built the foundations, Kenny took over and took all the credit for uncle Roy's hard work. Kenny was exposed last season. I bet you all miss Hodgson now! He is undefeated as England manager!
**** off with your "Uncle Roy" garbage. Will he be undefeated after tonight? I doubt it very much. Then it will read P3 W1 D1 L1
Didn't he win more last year than Fungus, 'Arry and Wanger...put together. What an awful job he did eh. Even if we'd won nothing and been relegated he still deserved a bit more respect from the owners with regards to how he was removed from the job. Anyway good luck to Steve Clarke (a man of honour) and I hope West Brom have a great season...after the first game
I don't see how it was disrespectful flying Kenny out to America to sack him. Would you rather the news was broken through a text or phone call, rather than face to face?
No, I'd rather the owners get off their ****ing arse and fly to England to do it face to face like most sensible human beings would. the way they did it left Kenny thousands of miles away from his family at a time when he would have wanted their support
The owners should drop everything they are doing throughout their sporting empire to fly over here and sack him...or buy Kenny a ticket to have a meeting to discuss the season and his reasons for having his contract terminated.
Yes they bloody well should have. If they haven't got time to run a sporting empire they shouldn't bloody build one. They weren't buying a pack of biros they were sacking a legend of our club. Plus don't sack him then take his assistant out to a baseball game for some sort of weird photo opportunity. Imagine how Clarke felt about that knowing they'd just sacked (or were about to sack) someone he obviously has so much respect for.
