Perhaps not unexpected but I wish him well.

I wonder how this will affect us? Sunderland are one of the clubs around us and selfishly I hope that they will be in disarray for a few games and give us a chance to open up a bit of a gap before they get back on course.

The bad news is that Martin O'Neill and Mark Hughes are reported to be well in the running for the vacancy. Either one of those will get Sunderland back on track and climbing the table - perhaps at our expense.

Let's hope that Sunderland struggle for a while before finding some form (which I think they will) so we can tuck some wins under our belt.

Ivor, I am a little surprised but not shocked to see him go. Always thought he was an honest decent manager, still with them being in a bit of turmoil now, might be a help to us in the long run.

Sunderland would be a good gig for either of those two , can't see either turning it down .

I'd like to see Hughes take on the Welsh job again the team is extremely young and someone who can relate to what they are going through and provide them with a bit of direction to keep up the excellent work Speed started could only be a good thing.

Ivor - I felt exactly the same way when i heard, kinda knew it was gonna happen but for selfish reasons hoped it wouldnt!! i havent looked at their fixtures but it could be that they play teams around us in the coming weeks,if so it could be a good thing,we didnt really expect Sunderland to be down there with us anyway, not after the money they spent!

Mark hughes or O'neil for the job i reckon, Bruce to Blackburn hopefully(if we put kean out of his misery on saturday) ;)

I like Bruce, really down to earth honest guy, shame the fans turned on him, but that's the managerial merry-go-round for you, can't see Hughes going for the Wales job, not enough money for Hughes I suspect, though I would love him to be the next Wales Manager, but I see him with ambition for a Premiership club! Let's hope they take their time picking up the pieces at Sunderland..............

According to the BBC, Martin O'Neill has agreed to become the new boss at Sunderland. Perhaps not the best news for us as he is capable of lifting them out of the rut they're in sooner rather than later.

That means Sparky has missed out. A mate speculated that he might return to Blackburn if Kean is pushed out there. Not so sure about that. Hughes left Fulham accusing them of a lack of ambition and not giving him enough to spend in the transfer tuck shop. Can't see that Blackburn would be any better.

Still think that's going to be a tough game for us by the way.

Most players at Sunderland will be at least 10% better soon as O'Neill walks through the door & that' s before he does anything . A good fit IMO

To be fair, I don't think any of these clubs will trouble us, even with new managers! Up the Mighty Swans......................

So it's O'Neill. He's good manager and could turn them around. Nervy times ahead if it wasn't for Bolton, Wigan and Blackburn being dreadfully poor this season.
