Thought you'd had enough of Sunderland cast offs, Warky? ;)

Bruce is yesterday's man. Not seen his name mentioned, but surely Chris Powell of Charlton is surely worth a shout. Realise he might be hard to prise away, but he is up and coming, and his team are riding high. Norwich did exactly this with Colchester and Lambert, albeit having to pay compensation, but it does merit some thought.

i really dont see why chris powell would come here. a decent shout but he is a charlton legend and they are most likely to get promoted. if i were him i wouldnt dream of coming to our club!

Wouldn't want Bruce here at all; I think he's one of the most over-rated managers in the game! In my opinion, he makes poor/average sides decent (i.e. Wigan, Birmingham) but he's very limited when he gets them to that level (Sunderland being a prime example).

If we're looking short-term, maybe he could get us up, but I fear we'd be doing a Derby when we got there.

And anyway, I doubt he'd come to us!

I like Bruce as a man, he's a decent manager but nothing special, wouldn't be top of my list.

If there was even the slightest chance of getting O'Neill that would be amazing but there's probably more likelihood of us winning our next game 5-0 than him coming to Ipswich.

I like the idea of Dave Jones, did a superb job at Cardiff whilst having to sell off his best players every year but there's always question marks over him at the end of the season, therefore would we want him for the second half of our season??

I like O'Driscoll, pretty much a stereotypical Ipswich manager although he would have to deal with bigger ego's and bigger transfer fees, and he's unproven when it comes to this.

Any manager is a gamble however, probably apart from the one's who we wouldn't get anyway, unless Bolton sack their manager.

But I think we're going to just have to tough this one out.

After the brief discussion on alternative managers the other night I started fretting about Mystic Megson. What if those media rumours that it was PJ or him after Keano were true? They could be lining him up as we speak! I don’t think I could handle that.

Then there’s Brian Laws. ME and Clegg seem the sort of people to convince themselves he’s perfect.

This is starting to worry me.

One available manager nobody has yet mentioned who would be a good choice is Coppell. Unless he’s retired because he can’t stand the strain.

    "he makes poor/average sides decent"

Isnt that what you want from a manager? making the team more than the sum of the parts. Though in saying that i wouldn't get to excited if we got him, it would smack of yet more short term planning.

Way back in the good old days when Magilton was sacked, i remember Bergkamps name being mentioned, not followed his situation but back then he was youth manager for a dutch club. If he hasnt already moved on with his career, and assuming he does want to then i think there a load of plus points

Big name - Clegg and Evans' boxes ticked
Though as a new manager surely wouldnt have the pressure applied to the more experianced big names.

Experience of dealing with youth - Can only be good for bringing through the youth we so desperatly need to resume doing

Links with holland market which has brought us so much success in the past. Links with Wenger aswell can only be a good thing for networking purposes.

Presumably attack minded and with the years of coaching experience hes now had, would be able to make them work. though i realise thats not really what we need right now.

    bad points

the inexperiance of being a first team manager, can he deal with the bigger egos of our squad? Can he turn fortunes around?
Links with arsenal, how tempting will a multitude of loans from the arsenal system be to him instead of developing our own
New Manager or not the big name will create the pressure of expectation

    thoughts?

Edit, - just done my research, he's assistant at ajax
