This sounds like bullshit to me. So papers make up a story about Bruce wanting to go back to DW and now they're backing out but by trying to justify their original lie.

Or it could all be true which would be disappointing.

What a load of rubbish, was the reporter sat with them during the discussion?
They started the rumour of Wigan's approach, now just finalizing it in a way that shows it wasn't rubbish to start with.

We cannot finalize new signings until 1st July.

Ehab Allam said there had been no OFFICIAL approach from Wigan, earlier in the week, so I can see this story having elements of truth.

Not sure about the assurance though, Bruce has always been quick to praise the level of support he has received from the Allams. Still it might mean Rhodes cost and wages gets the green light now instead of an amber light.

Lest see how it changes this next week.

Hope we can get Rhodes, but didn't Blackburn say he's not for sale ?

I think "clear the air talks" is a bit strong maybe the Allams started to twitch at the thought of loosing Bruce so just reassured him they are cracking on. If it had been Stoke a few weeks ago then it might have been a problem, after all he would hardly get a bottomless pit at Wigan would he. All managers want to bring the best players in regardless of cost. Mr Wenger has to sell his best players and up untill now doesn't get the budget to make him them competitive for the title

Oh dear. Steve Bruce has mountains of respect for the Allams, as he (rather annoyingly) kept repeating throughout last Season. He's on Holiday, therefore won't be signing anyone. For the Fail to claim that he is getting frustrated at the lack of Transfer activity, it's just hilarious.

If he was that desperate for Transfer acumen then he would fly home early, and start doing the deals himself as soon as he got back. He'll be getting his contacts to tap certain players up and let them know we're interested, or will call someone to make a bid for someone (i.e. Schmeichel situation).

He probably never even thought twice about leaving. "Food for thought" <laugh>

What offer? Oh yeah, the made up one.

****s sake, it's no wonder journalists are thought of as such scumbags.

when SB gets back from his hols he will either do 1 of 2 things, he will, either 1, slap an injunction on the press for getting us fans all disgruntled for making up stories or 2 have a good chuckle and wonder just how many gullible fans fell for it.
    now which do you reckon?

    option 1
    or
    option 2

    please take your time.

Did nobody else think that Ehab Allam's statement earlier in the week indicated that unofficial contact of some sort had been made between Whelan and either the club or Bruce?

And even if they had contact, does it matter? Doesn't mean Bruce was really interested. Again, as we discussed in another thread. Why in god's name should he move to Wigan..

Bruce would have had to go insane to return to Wigan over Prem football with us.

Yes!! I think I put this in the brucie to Wigan thred, there has been no DIRECT contact. I don't think this is the same as there has been no contact.
Still he'd be crazy to go there

What a pile of old cack this is. Utter garbage. Dave Whelan has gone on record as saying that the only contact he has HAD from Steve Bruce WAS AN EMAIL OF CONGRATULATIONS OVER WIGANS FAC WIN @ WEMBLEY. NOW IF WHELAN IS GUILTY OF TAPPING BRUCE UP THEN HE HAS BROKEN HIS OWN RULES. EITHER WAY I DOUBT THAT BRUCE WOULD WANT TO GO BACKWARDS AND CERTAINLY NOT TO WIGAN.

Why is it that papers with mail in the title are sh.it ?
