Maybe if he stopped flapping his arms every time he ran he'd conserve more energy.

Tired is the wrong word. It's really fatigue, which brings the risk of injury. Wilshere is an example. The kid plays a ton of games, then suffers one injury after another.

I believe it's all about the body developing as well. For example, as I understand it, it's physically impossible for anyone under the age of, say, 22 to win the Tour de France because their body has not yet reached the required levels of [whatever] to win the race.

Ouch! I was thinking more in terms of stamina reserve levels, as I'm sure you knew!

People saying that he's on £100,000 a week so therefore he can't be tired are really clutching at straws. Whatever he negotiated for himself to be paid has no effect on the fact that he's a human being who, like the rest of us, gets tired/fatigued. I moved back home to Swansea when I was 24 and played football competitively once a week and trained/played friendly matches 3 other times a week for almost 2 years straight. Now, I'm stuck with achilles tendonitis which limits me to 1 football session a week (and also leaves me unable to walk freely for a day or so most times) and I can physically feel that I'm unable to do the things that I could do 2 years ago. So at 19, I can completely understand why Sterling is knackered having not had a break from top-level professional football since Summer 2013.

We're all human and can do with a break sometimes. The sad truth is that the majority of people complaining about Sterling's stance probably spend their working day sat on their ass with walking from the couch to the fridge and back as their daily exercise.

No we all don't so please don't assume .His recent games have been against part timers at the beginning of a season not the end .Did you in your competitive football playing career (competitive is subjective , from parks football to Pro level ) have the best support in medical resources can offer .More like a call made by his club rather than the player himself .

Did I assume? I said the majority. Well done for being part of the minority. Read my posts properly if you want to be bitchy.

Furthermore, I did not have the best medical professionals behind me. And do you know what they would have told me if I had? You're playing too much, Chris. You need to rest. Who's to say Sterling isn't just listening to the medical pros rather than making his own decision? It wasn't exactly a game that England should have been close to losing, despite the fact they did, so in theory it was a good game to sit out all things considered.

Why the vitriol ? my opinion is that it's more of a case of his club pulling the plug on him , and if was him then my response is the same and without having all the details then thats all you can do , assume .

You implied in your response ("No we all don't so please don't assume") that my description of 'the majority' of fans criticising Sterling was a blanket stereotype. If you're going to twist my words to make me seem like a dickhead, you'll get vitriol. It was clearly in my post that the majority (i.e. many but by no means all) of people criticising Sterling probably have no idea of the meaning of true physical tiredness, fatigue or injury. There are thousands of armchair fans in the UK who will criticise him with no moral leg to stand on - just looking at his wage and thinking that means he should never get tired. You could have placed yourself in the 'minority' and felt pleased that you were not in that category. It was your choice to band yourself with the armchair fans, so your pop at me was completely unwarranted and unfair.

As it happens, I agree with your last post regarding the club probably asking Sterling to pull out of the starting lineup. But it was probably the medical team at Liverpool that made the call, not the management team.
