Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling receives his first call-up to the England Under-21s ahead of the double header against Serbia.

Other newcomers in Stuart Pearce's 26-man squad are Tottenham's Andros Townsend, 21, and 18-year-old Nick Powell of Manchester United.

Sterling, 17, has made eight appearances for Brendan Rodgers' side this term and has represented his country at U16s, U17s and U19s level.

England are preparing for a Euro 2013 play-off double header against Serbia.

Wish he wasn't playing, we are going to have to rest him at some point. and the internationals would have been a good opportunity.

Needs to decide if he wants to wait to be called back into England first team or commit to u21. Stuart Pearce will keep calling him up even if he is in the senior squad though.

While its bad for us in the short term I think he will learn a lot from the england u21s and I would really prefer him to be with the u21s than the senior team.
