I think this board needs more threads that encourage us to look at mens' legs.

"England forward Raheem Sterling, 20, will turn down a £180,00-a-week new deal at Liverpool. (Daily Mail) "

Where do they even get these numbers from <laugh>
As if we'd even offer close to that...

If the journos are right that he's turning down these big contract offers (big IF as, bizarrely, media law permits them to fabricate stories) then Sterling most likely has another club lined up.

good we can sell him on quick then... just sign ibe on a 5 year deal and we're golden.

sterling is at best the next mcmamaman (i can't shoot for **** but i can run down a blind alley and look good) OR he's the ext SWP (never was never willbe) but hopefully he's not the next theo walcott (sick note)

You obviously see a lot more of him than I do but I think he's a cracking player given his age and experience. I've said that a few times on this forum. If you do sell him you'll get megabucks to reinvest.

If he is going to be sold, he should not go to ANY of our rivals:emoticon-0145-shake.

He's got City written all over him. He's not a Jose player.

he's good but his problem is he thinks he is better than he is. His strike rate is actually appalling considering how many times we've set him up in front of goal for him to totally fluff his lines.

He's got a lot of experience now, this is his third full season actually.. yes he is very young for that...

but..... we've seen own, mcmanaman and others all play this game and frankly he could get one month in june to sign or get the push. its that simple. he is not ready to make this move and will get an awful shock when he does cos rodgers has been licking his balls so long and wrapping him in cotton woll and looking after him that the harsh reailty of a club where if he missed 1 of the many many he's missed for us would lead to a huge backlash... that shock could really put him in the bin.

I don't see him being ready for a big move but arsneal might suit him... It'd be like nasri.. any time we played arsenal or now play city i smile seeing his name cos in general you know what you get and how to deal with him..... 50 mil? bite yer arm off!

    quite correct on all counts.

Wenger fancies him and if he gives 50mil fair enough he can go there IMO.

Going to Real Madrid or Barcelona is not going to pay him. Tough decision for him to make though: he is going to be a small fish
in a big pond at City.:emoticon-0160-movie

Nasri's always been overrated and rubbish. At Arsenal he was allowed to get away with it as the general Arsenal team is fairly lazy and don't press as hard. For every piece of magic Nasri does (where he dribbles past a player or threads a ball through), he either loses the ball, slows the team down and slows transitions. He has great technical ability to keep the ball but he lacks that directness and the speed to get away from a player. Also really lightweight.

As for Rodgers protecting Sterling, partly true in that Rodgers has wrapped him up in cotton wool and tells him how great he is. In general you won't get many managers who slate their players. I think most of the pressure you're talking about though is that caused by the media when results aren't going your way and you've paid big money for a player. This year for you that scape goat has been Lovren. Sterling for whatever reason hasn't been targetted at all even though he's been well below par
