Looking at the ones on the website, Gerrard, Allen, Suarez, Downing, Coates in green and Johnson, Morgan, Assaidi, Skrtel and Lucas in Orange? Not sure what ones you were looking at but I wouldn't assume anything judging by the ones I saw (unless we are really putting out a experimental team!)

I can't see Skrtel & Lucas not playing...

Sorry mate I got it the wrong way round, Im going off training TODAY, the lads MAYBE not involved have the green bibs on, you cant actually see the lads with the orange bibs on.But Sterlings isnt in the pic with the green bib, but it also may suggest that Coates starts

That would suggest the side MAY BE

    Reina,Kelly,Coates,Skrtel,Johnson,Lucas,Allen,Gerrard,Borini,Suarez,Sterling OR Assaidi

Ah fair enough <ok> I think I'd rather give Assaidi a go and use Sterling in the Hearts game for a full 90. If we use him v City and he has a poor game it might dent is confidence, people say he's not ready etc. Use him in the Hearts game then against the "easier" teams in the league where he may have more joy.

This is the one team that i would like to see Carroll against, City struggle against him for some reason.

I honestly cannot for the life of me see Raheem Sterling starting the game tomorrow. He is more likely to get 90 minutes against Hearts on thursday.

True, seems to do well against Chelsea as well. In the FA Cup final and game straight after he was brilliant - the kind of player we all thought he would be.

Was browsing various football websites looking for bits & pieces for the match thread and I came across this...

He seems to like playing City!

I would love to see Mandy start tomorrow I must admit, but if he does it's essential we don't leave him too isolated up top. Even though I'm not particularly optimistic I just want to see us have a right go at them tomorrow. What have we got to lose? Looking forward to soaking up the atmos of the first home league game of the season (and then soaking up the ales at the Mathew St Festival afterwards <laugh>).

if we think this is how rodgers operates i think it's pretty sad... if it were that easy to prepare to play lfc (send someone down to count whos in one colour bib) then i'm afraid it'll be a thrashing for us!

    green or orange <laugh>

  14. I said when he joined that he would be a better player for us against the better sides than he would be against the lesser teams. Simply because the lesser teams usually stick a couple of big lads in their side to sure up the defense. The better sides don't do this because they see a lot more of the ball and get proper defenders.

However, I think he will be on the bench for the majority of the season <ok>

    GK:Reina
    RB: Johnson
    CB: Skrtel
    CB: Coates
    LB: Robinson
    CM: Lucas
    CM: Allen
    CM: Gerrard
    RF: Suarez
    CF: Carroll
LF: Asididi (never going to get that right)

That would do for me..Maybe Sterling Cameo 2nd half, prefer to see Glen at RB and Robinson is Good player at LB.

Think Carroll will be far more effective against City than Borini

Call him Ousama? I'd rather Johnson LB & Kelly at RB if Enrique is still injured.

I wouldn't. Johnson is far more effective on the right. Robinson is a tidy player. He needs chances to settle into that left back position. I'd rather see this for city - Johnson---Kelly---Skrtel---Robinson. Remember, Kelly is a CB at heart, and he is still better there than at RB.

Agree about Kelly and I think in a couple of years he'll be at CB but at the moment he is a better RB than Robinson is a LB and Johnson is a better LB than Robinson is. Especially against City, we need a strong solid back four. Playing Robinson too early against the big teams could backfire in the same way it has done with Flanagan. He had a few promising performances then got thrust into the team when Johnson & Kelly were injured and he had a few shockers and is now no where near the 1st team.

Robinson needs time & maybe a loan to get some first team football.
