Have to say, Sterling can amaze me and frustrate me in the space of seconds.

His finishing is poor, his decision making often poor, his final ball is often very poor....but then seconds later (or earlier, he'll make you drool......Will he improve enough to be considered world class.? At what age will he mature to that all round footballer that would make him great? If ever.

To be fair to the lad, he's being played in a new position and does seem to be more comfortable playing behind a striker rather than as one. I look forward to seeing him play with Sturridge again.....

Given this, is he worth the superstar status contract that he's obviously chasing?

No hes not worth it ... yet. The problem is someone somewhere will offer it.

Here it happened in the rugby , Munster offered JJ Hanrahan a contract and it was improved on his previous one , JJ is second choice btw but like Sterling shows huge potential. He wasnt happy with the contract and has now signed a pre contract with Northampton for 2/3 times the value of Munsters offer.

We need to meet Sterling somewhere in the middle maybe incentive driven (if he achieves certain targets his contract will rise 10 or 20 percent ).

Otherwise I fear Raheem will do a JJ and get what he wants elsewhere.

Decision making is something that comes with age. This is the first time the lad has been playing in such a high position so he will bound to make mistakes.

We have to keep him and we need to build the attack around him. It's managements fault that we;re in this position but truth is, he's our best player.

Hes not world class nor i think ever will be.

he is good but i feel he's got at least 4 years to become ready for the superstar status and frankly if he leaves us now he'll ruin his own career cos he is clearly not ready for the big time week in week out. we play him all the time but at a top top club giving what he wants I think he'd be dropped.

I just don't see him blossoming into a 20 goal a year man or a supplier of chances on a regular basis.

Lets face it RvP dropped. Falaco.. cant get a game sometimes.... you have to deliver... at city its the same.. dzeko out, jovetic out... not consistent enough... at real madrd you see bale lambasted for not rolling it to ronaldo, isco is in and out, others are sold on if they don't lick ronaldo's balls enoug... at barca suarez is on the bench...

sterling needs to realise he's got to have a place to learn his trade and the rewards will come... do a scott sinclair or a SWP and you can end up in qpr's reserves wondering where did it all go wrong!

jimmy is right though he is our best player, we have to keep him but we cannot be blind and say cos he is our best player he is all that either.

  5. He should be spending a couple of hours a day practicing his finishing.

Problem is, who teaches / guides him? Balotelli, Lambert or Borini...?

Yep, still raw but he has the tools to become world class. The issue is that he is the star of the team when he should be the understudy. Last season, he had SAS who would take most of the responsibility.

    1. He's young.

    2. He's been given (too much) extra responsibility this season and moved around the pitch which has diluted what he does well and should really be focusing on doing

    3. No. Not worth mega bucks (yet). See point 1.

    4. He will improve as he matures and get more consistent. See point 1.

that doesn't mean he's signed a new contract.

that just means we are stupid enough to let him run his current one down.

I'll predict if lfc put him up for sale this coming june he'd fetch 45-50million pounds given the way prices have gone the past few years.

the one cavat to that is the list of clubs will be very very short indeed.

I think we'd only get about £35m due to his lack of end product.

  14. If Barkley is worth £60m then Raheem is worth at least that!

He's 1 of our top 3 players, including Sturridge and Coutinho. I hope we don't let him go, as he might disappear elsewhere, people have to remember he is only just 20 though.

Feel free to let us know your #objective opinion of the realistic value for a player with 1 assist in his entire career <ok>

The list of clubs as i said is very short.

    I think

    city
    Cheslea

not real madrid, not unless the smell a cheap move as they would wait unitl he is 22 for that or 24 when he'd be ready

Utd might have a go... even though they shoudl never have a hope due to rivalry.

I cannot see anyo other names, can;t see psg doing it.

    But lets be clear

James went for 40 od mil and then 70 odd mil... suarez 75mil (we think) di maria cost 60 mil. ozil 42. the fees have gone nuts. so if an english boy of 20 who'd ironed on no 1 pick comes up then the bids will be flying.

Barkley will go for 40mil plus... FFS... Lucaku cost everton 28! I expect Barkley to be another rooney... a huge fee and where ever he goes he will stick and be a fixture.

I cannot see raheem sterling, whatever anyone thinks going for less than 45mil IF LFc see sense and see he's not signing up and move him on.

Really the boy should be trying to get a 4.5 year deal to take him to summer 2019 and he'll be 24 and then ready for anything. LFC would have to sell him in 2 years anyway if he then says sorry you got your time i'm not signing again.

we'd get 70mil then the way the madness is going.

If we let him do an owen and end up getting 20mil for him in a years time we need the club shut... the owners forcibly removed and us restarted cos its be so nonsensical there's no fixing it.
