Little Raheem has been called up to the main England squad. Doubt he will feature, but still good to see.
Good on him...bit surprised but got to give him confidence Fingers crossed he doesn't get injured now
So BR asks that he's held off from the U21's to protect him from burnout so Woy brings him to Senior Squad. Congrats to Raheem, utter prick to Hodgeson.
Brendan did it to ensure that he doesn't prematurely get ''superstar status'' and become the ''next big hope''. The usual ''next big hopes'' usually end up flopping. Raheem is a talent, but he has to be carefully managed to ensure he does realise his potential and does develop year in year out. There has been a few that have not fulfilled their early potential and are no better now than they were when they first burst onto the scene.
Makes sense. Hodgson is probably expecting him to be one of his main players in 2 years time so start introducing him into the team slowly during the qualifiers. He might not have played many games, but lets be fair England aren't blessed with many skillfull players. Good for England, not so good for us but then again he was always going to be in the limelight playing for Liverpool anyway.
Bit worrying at his age is he really going to play? I suppose it means he's around the squad to get experience.
Can't help but think Shelvey and Kelly should be featuring ahead of him, that said though other than chamberlain, there isn't much natural talent.
In my opinion its a very bad idea. There is the slight possibility that Raheem will develop bad habits being introduced this early. I think it would have been better to leave him with the u19s for a little while longer. If he blitzes his way through that in say 6 months, then introduce him to the 21s. If he flies though that involve him in training camps so he can learn from the senior players. Its premature to be introducing him now.
Calm down calm down, He will get 5 mins game time purely to keep Jamaica away who have been hounding him to join their national squad for quite some time now.
I'm sure it's great for the lad to get called up, but I'll be happy if he doesn't play, tbh. He's only 17, still think it's all a bit too much too soon.
meh, it will be 5 minutes to stop the Jamacians claiming him, I doubt he'll feature again until he's properly ready
