Did anybody else notice that Quinn should have scored? It was clearly scooped back out from inside the goal by the keeper and where I'm sat in the East Stand, it was as clear as Lampard's in the 2010 World Cup. I think the linesman decided against it because it didn't hit the floor and was pushed out in mid air, but it was definitely in. Didn't get shown on FLS either which I was hoping could help prove it for us. Surely you can't give the benefit of the doubt to the defenders if they're 4-0 down, it wasn't exactly going to be a goal which changed the game for them was it.
Was hoping to see this on FLS last night (thank god that clown Claridge wasn't on). Seemed like a big part of the game to leave out.
The linesman was lagging behind the play and was not in a position to be in line and judge it. It was, of course, in.
As I mentioned on the other thread, I'm sat right in line with the goal line, and it didn't look fully over the line. It certainly wasn't a foot over or anywhere near as far as Lampard's was. I had a great view of it to be fair. Angles can be very misleading.
It didn't look fully over the line to me, it happened so fast and the linesman was behind play. He couldn't give it due to that alone
Claridge had identified Quinn as one to watch almost 5 years ago. For those that went yesterday is the following a fair summary of Quinn's game or is he even better now? http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/mar/18/newsstory.sport12
Quinn is just bloody awesome. If this goal had counted, he'd have got a goal and and assist in both of his first two games. His passing and dribbling are good, he can shoot pretty well, he's great off the ball, storming forward into the box in a way I've been wishing Corry Evans would do for ages and even though he isn't a tackler or a particularly strong player, he closes people down and puts himself in awkward places when defending. Hell of a signing for £300k.
his assist for simpson was brilliant, cant decide which goal i like most, all great in different ways..
I know it's ten years too late, but aren't they supposed to be implementing goal line technology next season? It would sort it out and make it infallible. There was also a game in the prem were it was an issue yesterday as well wasn't there? I watched MOTD last night, but can't remember which game it happened in.
It's being used in the Club World Cup this December which Chelsea are playing in, and then in next season's Premier League. I think they're also talking about it being in place at the 2014 World Cup.
Skysports highlights up, including the save. http://www.skysports.com/video/inline/0,,16463_8083853,00.html
Has to be the 4th for me Elmo s piss take trick started it then every pass cheered before alouko smashed it home excellent stuff
It looks more in on the video than it did for me in the game. It's really hard to tell from that video. Edit: It still wasn't in though. I saw it well enough on the day.
