Stephen Packer Memorial Cup

The Under-11s will be participating in the third annual Stephen Packer Memorial Cup, held at Liverpool’s Academy, on Saturday 3rd October.

The Tigers are one of are one of eleven clubs from the north of England to be invited to take part in this year’s tournament, which is held in memory of former Liverpool Academy player Stephen Packer, who sadly lost his brave battle with cancer in November 2012, aged just 9.

The Stephen Packer Memorial Cup was set up in order to keep the memory of young Stephen alive. Stephen was a huge Liverpool fan and made a big impression on everyone he encountered at The LFC Academy, due to his happy nature and willingness to learn.

Saturday’s event not only aims to commemorate Stephen but also to help raise much needed funds for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. For more information about the work done by Alder Hey, please visit www.alderheycharity.com.

Along with the Tigers, the other clubs participating in the 2015 Stephen Packer Memorial Cup are: Liverpool (two teams), Sheffield United (two teams), Carlisle United (two teams), Chesterfield (two teams), Blackburn Rovers (two teams), Burnley, Middlesbrough, Oldham Athletic, Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan Athletic.

The Under-11s have been drawn in Group D and will play teams from Blackburn Rovers, Sheffield United and Carlisle United.

All of the young Tigers’ games will be played on Pitch 4, the first of which sees them take on Carlisle, which will kick-off at 11.18am, before facing Blackburn (KO 11.36am) and Sheffield United (KO 12.12pm).
