Is Stephen Hunt the only player to be relegated from the Premier League with 3 different clubs? Reading, Hull City and now Wolves.

I really dont think he is. Hunt was ok, nothing more nothing less, and is perhaps the most overrated player in my time as a City fan. I can see why fans liked him, he tries a lot and runs around like a mentalist, but his quality is frankly poor.

Nigel Quashie has been relegated from Premier League with 4 or 5 different clubs - QPR, Notts Forest, Southampton, West Brom and possibly West Ham.

It came up in a pub quiz recently. 5 times is the most: Herman Hreidarsson (with 5 different clubs), Nigel Quashie (with 5 different clubs) & Nathan Blake (with 4 clubs, one of them twice) have all achieved this distinction.

He looked decent when he played for us, looked a cut above some of the team at times and looked to be one of the only ones who could create and score chances. We missed him when he was injured during the latter part of that season. He wasn't a top class player by any means, but he looked like one of the players in our relegation team who looked good enough to play at PL level, albeit at the level of the half a dozen teams at the bottom of the PL.

Above all, it was his obvious willingness to get stuck in, that marked him out. I rated him.

I rated him but haven't seen enough of him recently to know whether he is still as good as he was. I would think Wolves will keep him as Kightly and Jarvis may be poached.

Didn't he score those 2 goals at Bolton to get us a point there after been 2 down? It's players like that that you need in a relegation fight.

he is a better quality, fringe Murdoch League, Aaron McLean type player. Not in style of play of course, but in player characteristic. As you say: "..he tries a lot and runs around like a mentalist, but his quality is frankly poor.."

Yes he did, one of the away games I managed to get too. The area around the Reebok was like a skating ring. Gary Megson's last game in charge. Both sets of fans shouting for the manager to be sacked, a great atmosphere at that game <laugh>

I disagree. 6 goals in 27 appearances in frankly what was a very poor team is pretty damn good. He is exactly the sort of player required by a newly promoted team 'attempting' to stay up. I think had he not got injured, we would have had a much greater chance of survival.

He called a spade a spade, played with honesty and integrity, worked bloody hard for the team, and weighed in with some very important goals. My favourite signing of our 2 seasons in the top flight. Plus he didn't name him, but assume his parting shot when he left the club was aimed at a Mr Bullard. That deserves a big <ok>

If we had 11 Stephen Hunt's in our side we'd have stayed up that season, wasn't he our top scorer with about 6?

He's never going to be good enough for a team who wants to finish in the top half, but for a newly promoted team he'll do a decent job for them.

Well I agree about that! He openly disliked Jimmy Bullshit. And yes he did score some goals, my point was his quality was poor. I remember one of them being a hopelessly floated free kick that just deceived everyone and went in. Was it the 1-5 to Wigan (total guess, might be wrong. Actually I seem to picture a night match so it cant have been).

Your criticism is based on a few free kicks? Blimey, we were a team fighting for our lives, even Messi misses penalties you know. I thought we were far more effective with him IN the team, than out the team. As a midfielder in the top division he had a goal ratio of 1 in 4.5 games. That is bloody brilliant for what we were hoping to achieve, which was survival. It's a shame our forwards weren't as prolific!

Of all the truly **** players we've had, I can't believe one of our most consistent performers in the top division, with end product, is being criticised on here. Truly incredible, no really.

Most over-rated player in your time as a City fan ? That is some statement assuming you have been a City fan for any reasonable length of time

I liked Hunt , we could have done with more players who actually cared

I was a big fan of Hunt's, I don't think he was overrated at all.

I'm not criticising him JESUS CHRIST DO PEOPLE EVEN READ MY POSTS?!? If anything I am criticising fans for overrating him. I quite clearly and deliberately said he was ok, how is that criticism?

Again, dont misinterpret my comment for saying he was rubbish, I said overrated. I've been a fan for over 30 years and HUnt wouldnt make the worst 250 players Ive seen, that is not the same thing. Not many people rated David Jones, Tony Finnegan or Tony Brien very highly, you see.

Funny that, as it looks like criticism to me. Saying someone is 'frankly poor' when clearly they weren't is indeed 'Criticism'...

    Criticism...

    1. the act of passing judgment as to the merits of anything.

See, you've been exceptionally selective there. You've chosen to omit "Hunt was ok, nothing more nothing less" and "I can see why fans liked him, he tries a lot and runs around like a mentalist". They're not words of criticism in anyone's book. If I cherry-picked words from anyone's post I could get it to say what I wanted, but that wouldnt make it an accurate representation of what was intended.
