BLACKPOOL are locked in a four-way chase for the £1m signing of Stephen Dobbie. Ian Holloway wants to add the Swansea man to his squad for next season, after the striker blasted six goals in eight matches during a loan spell at the end of the last campaign. The Gazette understands Dobbie remains available for transfer, despite a change of manager at Swansea â Michael Laudrup named as Brendan Rodgersâ successor last week. The Swans have slapped a £1.1m price-tag on Dobbie but that hasnât put clubs off. As well as Blackpool, Celtic, Middlesbrough and Bristol City have all made contact with the Premier League club to register an interest in the 29-year-old. Holloway has supplied chairman Karl Oyston with a list of players he wants, including Dobbie. - Blackpoolgazett Strange one this, thought we'd at least keep him until the manager's checked his squad, seems Dobbie is destined to go!.............
Are you serious, musty? Six in eight and a HIGH quality Championship player - or better - at that. It is touch and go whether or not he'd make an effective PL player with us and I'm surprised the fee is so low, especially when you look at the sort of money that lesser players fetched last season. I'd like to see him get a chance under Laudrup but, failing that, I would want every penny of £1.75 million for him.
V/good price that could go higher if there is a bidding war.....would not go to celtic though the way scottish football is going down the pan.......love the guy and too me he should be given the chance to impress laudrup like the rest of the players have to do....
remember where the guy is from and he is now 30, 500k max i reckon, br should have sold him last year to blackpool
Dobbie is easily worth £1m to any team trying to get out of the Championship. Maybe a lot more. How many other attacking midfielders at that level can you virtually guarantee 10/15 goals and a goodly number of assists from per season? Considering that the prize on offer for achieving promotion next season will be going up significantly thanks to the new TV deal, there's no way that we should be settling for anything less than that.
Innit. Even Championship players go for multiple millions of pounds, Dobbie is worth £1.5+ easily... quite disappointed it's not a bigger rumoured fee to be honest!
I would keep him here and Loan him out might need a ccc player ourselves if this prem campaign goes tits up.
I've always rated him and think that he can do a job for us in the Premier League. I'm mystified why other players have been prefered to him in the PL. But if Laudrup is also not interested in him 1.1 million is a decent sum of money for a quality player. And if he goes I wish him all the best. Always been one of my fave players!
Watching him in the play off game for Blackpool he continued to be so frustrating, one minute brilliant on the ball and the next very careless with his distribution giving away the ball on numerous occasions. Can't see him playing for us again, he does reasonably well at championship level but the premier league is a step too far so a fee of around a million or so would suit us and could be put towards someone with more quality.
I disagree the premiership is a step to far for him...he has not had much of a chance to show what he can do to be fair...we know he can score goals and that must allow him the chance to prove himself to laudrup with the rest of the players... ...Its not as if we have to sell him because we are short of a few bob....Give him a chance and decide to sell him after that if he is not up to it in the next transfer window......and in the mean time if we are waiting for a window to open allow him to go out on loan......I want to see what he can do in more than one game...
maybe it is musty but we as fans have not seen much of what he can do, an odd game here and there is soul destroying for him and i want to give him a chance, i think he has earned it.....
i have always been one of his biggest fans and tbh prefer him over the litas and moores, would rather see them moved on first
I must admit I'm disappointed to hear that he was still on the transfer list, would have made sense for Laudrup to have made a judgement from seeing him in training, though I'm sure Laudrup would have been given a video of Wembley, as that is where our Premiership adventure rightly started, and let's be honest, in that game Dobbie was a Legend, superb goal, great crosses into the box too, and I've always felt he deserved a shot at the Premiership as a just reward. As for the fee, think it's a bit low in my view, a fee of £1.75M as previously mentioned would be a more representative value, but seems Blackpool will fight tooth and nail to get him, maybe his success will be with the Tangerines more than with us!...........
Hope we keep Dobbie , now that a new manager is here . If Buck was still here I'd hope we would sell him on because I think it would be cruel to keep him around another season under Buck if he wasn't given the proper opportunity .
