Don't know whether you've seen this.

It is described as a "wonder" goal and has been shortlisted for FIFA's "goal of the year".

Don't know about you, but it doesn't seem that different (except the standard of football!) to Nicky's a few years ago against QPR!!

Other than us Robins, nobody really seemed overly impressed with it then!!

It won goal of the year and was shown on tv adverts advertising the bbc for months! Was only talking about it the other day, we appreciated it more than most but make no
mistake the country knew about it.

Here it is again... Just to enjoy it once more

Reading about (and watching) this woman's fantastic strike, which is up for an award against some Champions League and World Cup goals, her manager is quoted as saying that it was only by chance that they had a camcorder at the game, so it is lucky it was captured on film.It reminds me slightly of Maynards goal v QPR.

This got me thinking; there must be LOADS of quality moments like this that go largely unnoticed in the lower/non leagues, as they are hardly ever filmed - on a rainy, cold Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning.

With this in mind - and the absence of any video footage to prove - be honest - have any of you ever in your footballing careers ever scored anything that would have made it for consideration? Even for 'goal of the week'?

I admit that I have never scored a goal like Stephanie's in this video, but I did once score a rocket from about 30 yards - I was playing Left Mid and my Left-back overlapped me before cutting the ball back. I scuffed my first touch, which made the ball rise into the air at about knee-height - it hovered there saying 'hit me please!' so I absolutely smacked it - it really hit the sweet spot. The keeper got to but it was so cleanly hit he could only slightly deflect it.
My family were 'watching' that game from the touchline (at the King Edward Place pitches - STFCs training ground) and the most annoying thing is that NONE of them saw it - they were all too busy chatting about what they were going to do later that day. FFS - I have not scored a goal like it since and probably never will!

Any of you guys ever scored a decent goal worthy of mention?

I did score one once from about 35 yards out. I didn't get many so this was even more special. The shot was out of the keepers reach but hit the inside of the post about a foot below the crossbar- It flew across the goal to hit the other post with about the same amount of force before angling back across the goal to finish in the bottom corner of the net.

it was the look on the goalies face I remember most, as he looked left-right-left, meanwhile, I charged around the pitch like a madman!

Blimey Shiny - I've either led a very sheltered life, or I've actually got one, as I honestly didn't know it advertised the BBC!!

I also scored one from 35 yards out - I lobbed my own goalkeeper in a cup final! Cracking goal, but I just ran up to our own goalpost and started kicking **** out of it!! Mind you, I was young and impetuous then.

Well in my opinion, out of the three goals nominated, this young ladies is the best, i think its a fantastic goal, if she doesn't win it, (and she probably wont) it will be an injustice.

I scored from the half way line.

While coaching kids I regularly see goals that are eye opening. Children now have more advanced skills than previous generations, and in my case parents at any early age due to more enlightened coaching methods, changes in rules encouraging skill and ball technology. Twenty years ago the method of striking the ball known as the knuckleball did not exist, kids practice the elastico, rabona, rainbow flick all unheard of when I was a child.

Hopefully one of these kids will appear in City's colours.

I've never heard of those - they sound like dance moves!

Have you taught them the 'weasel' yet? :) http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Uct8dZzhgtI

"I've never heard of those - they sound like dance moves!"

You may never have heard of them but you would be familiar with them all, I was practising a rainbow flick 30 years ago and can still do it now! (picking the ball up on your heel and instep and flicking it up over your head) Elastico is the modern name for a flip flap and rabona is crossing the ball with a wrong foot switch on the run (made famous by Ronaldo)

Its good that kids are practising these things and they are definitely more skilful as a group than even 10 years ago, maybe its one of the better results of a premiership with a plethora of foreign talent.

    I coached kids from 8's to 14's in the 90's till 2005.
My boy could do things with a ball I could only dream about but he 'retired' at 15 as did 90%.
They all finished for different reasons but just lost interest and found other/better things to do in their eyes.
    I didn't understand then and I still don't today.
To me, football and cricket was everything and nothing else mattered.
It's the desire and wanting to play from kids these days that's different - it doesn't matter how many tricks they can perform.
