It is now looking like the transfer window will close without any activity down at Ashton Gate. I know there is still 4 hours left but the rumours seem to have dried up along with our hopes of bringing in new players before the close.

So, like of lot of you predicted, it would appear that if there are to be new faces trotting out in a Bristol City shirt then they will almost certainly loanees. Not quite sure whether that is the long term solution but realistically it could be the way to save our season and the required re-build will be left to the summer (again).

All the transfer rumours will be dead and buried in 4 hours and the loanee rumours will inevitably start in earnest, so I ask you who are nearer the source than I what potentials are lurking in the wings to improve our lot in life and the Championship survival stakes.

Another question comes up as to whether we have improved the sqaud over the last 3 months and the names of Moloney and Cunningham seem to come to mind from what I have heard during my following of all matches on BBC Radio Bristol.

The season finale and the fixtures are running out faster than we like and I would like to hear that some of the current squad plus some tasty loanees will do the job that is urgently required. Can we survive based on what has happened over the last few weeks under Sean's stewardship or are we still desperate to bring in some loan players to finish the task? Any players in mind?

If we don't get additional central defenders in soon we will get relegated.

It's as simple as that for me..

Kevin Davies leaving Bolton? Any takers? Says another Championship club is interested, probably not us.

I know we have been quiet on the transfer front, but people forget we have added 2 players this month.

Maloney and Kelly 2 areas that we have strengthened in. We just don't ever seem to get that elusive CD that all of us fans have known for ages. I know lots of people wanted McInnes gone likewise Millen just when ever the managers mention needing a centre back it's them who are gone???

Thank you caldicot because I knew someone would answer the thread with that kind of reply. I suggest you give up the night work as I did it for 6 years and it ruins your sex life lol.

Congratulations you're the winner of Bristol City's calendar January page featuring Derek McInnes which is now consigned to history, or the rubbish bin should you not want to claim your prize.

Moloney has played one game. We don't know if he's going to be a good signing or not yet...

SOD needs to get on his knees and start pleading with some Premier League teams to let us have some of their stars. I wonder if Caulker is happy with the amount of games he is getting at Spurs, and whether we could convince AVB to let him come here for a bit again. Caulker in our defense would probably keep us up. Also, as I've said multiple times on here before I think we should get Jonathan Spector from Brum on loan with an option to buy.

If we are all honest we knew that Sean would not enter the transfer market given his limited funds. He may have dipped his feet in if we had sold Albert for a good sum but that didn't happen and here we are looking down the throat of a relegation battle.

There must be a lot of good players available right now who probably thought they might be moved on during the window but are still with their parent clubs for the balance of the season. I'm absolutely positive that Sean has some targets in mind and someone has already wondered if Caulker might be available due to his lack of first team duties which would be brilliant but let's wait and see.

Clearly the transfer window was never going to be the re-build period and loanees must be the way forward if we are to survive the season. If survival is where we end up then the clearout will start in earnest and under Sean's guidance I have more faith in that happening than at any other time during the last 4 seasons. Some cornerstones of a rebuilding platform may already be in place and the final touches can change our longer term future rather than the poor, almost non-existent, attempts of our recent past.

Moloney has played 2 games and coincidentally, we have only conceded 1 goal - would love to see Caulker back again but it would be considered a step down, I expect he would only do Prem league now. Don't know much about Spector but if he's that good, why wasn't he snapped up in the window...?

As others have said would love to see Caulker back at the Gate but don't see it happening would rather see a left footed CB loanee but there don't seem to be too many about who fit in with the route that the club has decided to go down now unless you know of a young and up and comming CB?
