It seems like football stats are getting stranger each year - here is a stat from the opening weekend of the Premier League: So we were the heaviest team, and the joint highest team at the weekend - guess the height explains the extra weight!
It's interesting that people compile this stuff. Although I do wonder if there's any inverse correlation between the number of ingrowing toenails in a team and their results....?
Richard Dunne to blame for that! I find it amazing that Arsenals average height is 5 foot 9. I am five ten and my understanding is that is the average height of a man in the UK. You normally expect footballers to be taller and more athletic (certainly than me!)
I think Taarabt is mostly to blame for the weight. I also saw a stat showing Barton was the best midfielder over the weekend, in terms of creating chances and key passes.
