We have statisticians now counting corners, free kicks, passes, %age completed passes etc, I'm sure you catch my drift. I would like to see somebody supply a statistic at the end of the season of how many controversial decisions go for the top 4 teams and how many go against. I'd be willing to gamble the top 4 get more for them than the other 16 clubs in the division put together. These teams don't need any help yet they seem to get a phenomenal amount. Not detracting from Arsenals win yesterday, they were a pleasure to watch just still bloody annoyed at Atkinson.
Can't remember what it is called but there is a website which keeps an alternative version of the league table if, in their view, decisions had been called correctly. Not sure how they would claim to work that out as its very subjective but I think they do it mainly for talking points. I'm sure someone will chip in with a link or a name somewhere... Anyway they have a running tally of them I think.
http://www.debatabledecisions.com/english-premier-league-tables but it seems to have stopped in the last couple of months last season. Shame as its an interesting idea. Not looked at it before really but according to these guys you had more favourable decisions than us!! I always knew that was really the case...
I have an interesting stat. We have just had the worst start to a top flight season since 2005? I certainly hope we don't emulate the other stat from that god forbidden year?
Are you questioning the fact its our worst start or the possibility of us having a poor points return this season? Ill give you another stat while we are on. O’Neill was sacked as manager after an eight game run of five losses and three draws. We have had had 1 draw and 3 defeats so far? By the time we play the scum in 4 games time, I'll bet you now PDC will have a worse record than that.
Sid against who will we win? WBA away? Really? Liverpool and Man Utd at home? You think? Swansea away? Mmmmm! Our record at home against the filth is rotten over the past 30 years so any SAFC fan predicting a win there is a very brave man. I can see us losing all 5 mate. If we are lucky we will have 3 draws at best.
No idea. All I'm saying is that we'll have a win by then. To paraphrase that smug twat Noel Edmonds re the tenner, deal or no deal?
Wont take money of a canny owld fella like you kidda? Lol Or just employ one that is up to the task perhaps and has the ability to manage at the highest level not the 3rd division?
Yes? I said employ a manager who has the ability to manage at the top flight not the 3rd division. Not that you couldnt employ a manager currently working in the lower leagues? There is a massive difference. Di Canio is not able to man manage at this level but Poyet is imo. I'd have also gone for Di Mateo who showed at Chelsea he can manipulate egos at this level enough to fashion a successful team and be a winner. We will be bottom 3 all season under this clown. Have a read of tomorrows Journal and tell me what you think of his opinion of Cabral? He says he is 4th choice, so after 14 players in over the summer and Cattermole being forced to wear a lepers bell all close season, we are still faced with having Larsson, Gardner and Vaughan as first choice midfielders and up to Saturday Ji up front? If you are comfortable with that then fine. I'm not. I was hoping for better than 4th bottom after last year.
I wouldn't like to say Di Canio can't handle premier league footballers because he's not had long enough to prove one way or the other yet. The same applies to Poyet, he may end up a cracking premier league manager he may not. Di Matteo is far more proven than both, agreed. I'm just not judging This Sunderland side or the current manager for at least another half dozen/dozen games have gone by. You could well be proved right.
On the subject of those 'alternative tables' I always note that Sunderland are better off and higher in the league whilst our horse bothering neighbours are the opposite.
Have to tell you Parker, so am I. The guy's Ego doesn't match his ability as a premier manager. He simply cannot deal with premiership footballers. He might get away with it in the lower leagues..but not this one. I had huge reservations when I saw how many players he was buying and then saw how many games we had arranged as a pre season. I know they mean very little, but for Sunderland with a brand new team, it was essential. How the hell could he gel players, know who his best 11 was with the amount of games he arranged pre season. Then I see his ranting at players at the end of games. (JoS)...it simply shouldn't happen. I am a manager in my job, I have a team of guys working for me...If I openly ranted at one of them, it would kill the team spirit needed..even more so on a football field. I am aware no team should chop and change manager....but on this occasion, I say we should go, he is way out of his depth, he will drag SAFC back to our Mick McCarthy days. I cannot see before Xmas where will get any points.
Someone released something after last season saying we got more incorrect decisions going for us than against and, in that stake, we were top of the league. What it DIDN'T do is tell us how many incorrect GAME CHANGING decisions went for/against us that shouldn't have. It's all very well saying we got a throw in on the half way line that we shouldnm't have but what difference does that make in the outcome of the game?? Or a free kick for a foul when it should've been a goal kick or some ****e! How many incorrect GAME CHANGING decisions did we get in our favour when compared to against us - we got zero game changing decisions in our favour at the weekend and 2 against us!! 2 massive game changers on Saturday within the one incident. Give the free-kick fine as it was a definite foul - should've played advantage (first incorrect decision) and we would've scored (no-one in the stadium heard the whistle - look at Szczczczczcny (I know) and the lad trying to clear the ball - they had no idea that the game had stopped. But if you give the free-kick then a goal-scoring opportunity has been prevented - proven by the fact that we scored - so send him off - it's 2-1 to the away side and they're down to 10 men or it's 2-2 and 11 v 11 - I'd have fancied a point minimum in either situation.
You really are a bell end fella if you're suggesting we can't beat West brom. We could have picked up a point against arsenal if not for a bad result, why can't we nick a point from either/or Man U and Liverpool. Your level of support is as shameful as ever Cest. Now read the first line of my signature.
