Aye Nev, its a natural defence mechanism. When the men went out to hunt & left the wife & kids in the cave the smell of their fanny batter would keep animals at a distance so they did not attack them.
my current birds one doesn't smell unless she has just came then its still very faint. you miss it if its not there.
