I know it`s there for all to see, but a quick resume of the season so far. I have supported the city since the early sixties, and to quote Harry Wilson, “We have never had it so good”. Some would say we have but none of us were around to remember. With the demise of Coventry, only Ipswich have endured in the Championship as long as the Bluebirds. I remember when we kicked off with a 0-0 at Rotherham all those years ago, how thrilled I was that we were now in the decent league. Year after year, we have improved and subject to holding our nerve against Palace (who owe us one), we would have lost only 9 this campaign…..making us a difficult team to beat. Amazing how many times we have opened the scoring this season, a record I believe, and with Reading having a player sent off Saturday, the best disciplinary record in the league, not bad. 18 wins is excellent, and the problem has been the amount of times we have lost the lead to draws….bah! We are well above sides like Leicester, Leeds, Burnley, Hull etc., and will fight three Premier teams for play-off glory. New fresh faced manager, smart and presentable too (look at Tony Pullin), good backroom team, fabulous ground, and training facilities. We have Peter Wittingham making Bobby Charlton type passes, providing goals for the likes of Mason, who is a great prospect. Wittingham, based on his amount of time with us now probably our greatest ever player, arguably. Over the years, we have been presented with rubbish, and then some. Not now, if we don`t quite make it this season, I think we will next year. That said with the likes of Wolves, and probably Blackburn and Bolton it will be tough. Also, well done Swansea.... fantastic season, done the welsh proud! Pissed again eh Dom?
It ain't over until the fat lady sings. And to quote Will Smith (or was it Jeff Goldblum) in Independence Day, 'I can't hear no fat lady....!!!!'
One step at a time. Anything but a loss on Saturday and we can start thinking (not worrying) about who's next.
Good thread Dom, Yes Sparkey it was Mcmillan, by father told be about it some years ago. ITIWRAN fat Sam worries me too. Remote, No reason to worry if we make the play-offs we will be underdogs, might just stir our boys up. Back to Dom, yes Well done to the Swans lets hope we can join them next season.
