That is not state meaning anything nice on the contrary meaning mess
SUPPOSED TO BE A GREEN CITY but we encourage pollution by slowing down all the traffic
poo poo any or all developments likely to add to the city's well being
waste money, £millions, on getting a few hundred people to and from work from just 1 area
in the process of above take away / destroy natural space for nature
a football team that should be the flagship of the west country floundering in the depth's.
a council that wastes tax payers money by inefficientcy, try using their multi functional press button phone system seems like 50 departments and 20 people manning them ( was advised by one operative to press any department button as all the calls go to a few people who cover all aspects)
old lady fall's over in dark 2 street lights out, posts stick out onto path, BUSY ROUTE FOR OAP'S between resident homes doctors/shops etc, after an hour of trying pressed random buttons, as advised, went through sewage and pest control and discarded sex items, was told "we will try and see if we can get it done in a week" I really hope they do record the calls as if there is another accident, then I will phone 999 and have the old dear taken to hospital to make sure she is OK..

And a Mayor who is a hypocrite and a liar and so far removed from reality it's not true.

He'd better not be re-elected.....surely he's pissed enough people off in the last couple of years not to be ?

Brilliant City and a great place to bring up children.

House prices and rents are far too high.

Can't disagree with that, but it has to be tempered with....

Public transport that is expensive and unreliable.

Cycle lanes that take up valuable road space, and which are used by a tiny minority.

The worst traffic in the UK of any major city - see above whilst Traffic managements answer is to add yet another pointless set of traffic lights or a roundabout and sometimes staggeringly both, in the middle of nowhere for no reason. Great example is the temporary flyover at Temple Meads that stood for 20 years. It wasn't pretty but there were no queues on Temple Way. Why does it take me up to 2 hours to get from South Bristol to Almondsbury ?

No truly international airport serving North America or further afield, and the one we have is awkward to get to and from for a lot of people and is miles from the centre of town. The one we had, close to a major rail hub and to the South Wests two Motorways was scuppered for proper development by NIMBY's.

*** I must wholeheartedly disagree with this comment Angelic ... sorry ... since 1990 I have travelled extensively, daily ALMOST, to every major city in the UK Birmingham, London even with the zone, Manchester, Leicester, are far worse ... Liverpool, Newcastle, Southampton/Portsmouth are better than , whilst a whole host including Nottingham, Derby Stoke Leeds are on a par or worse
*** *** you need tgo walk faster ...lol

JGF2 - I came back from working in London for 15 months last March. My daily commute from Watford to Barnet was around 12-14 miles each way every day via Totterige Common, and on average took me around 25-30 minutes.

Compare that to a trek from Whitchurch to Aztec West for a 09.00 start every third week in my current job, and I am having to leave home at around 07.35 to avoid being late. That journey, using the A37/A4/M32/M4 is 13.7 miles, 9 or so of which are Motorway.

I have also worked in Sheffield/Rotherham, Birmingham/West Midlands, Burton/East Midlands, and I spent many months commuting to and from Liverpool and Bristol in 2012.

From my own experiences, nothing is a bad, or comes close to being as bad as Bristol for traffic, to the degree that I tend not to go out driving at weekends wherever possible.

From home to Priory Road at Broadwalk this week to turn right down on to the Bath Road has taken me up to 35 minutes using the A37 and the back roads via Hengrove Shops and Knowle West. It's pre School run time, and is down to just sheer volume of commuter traffic.
