...But at least he was presented "with a brilliant picture book from the past 12 years of my time at the club". <ok>
10 goals in 4 games. How're this plonker + Caulker keeping Chief out of the team.

Rio Ferdinand's return to Manchester United as an opposition player was not one he will want to remember in a hurry, on the wrong end of a 4-0 scoreline.

The defender could do little to prevent a resurgent United side hitting their stride, and he was unusually quiet on Twitter after the game.

Just over 24 hours after the loss, Ferdinand, who has been in the papers all day due to the serialisation of his autobiography, issued a short statement on his 5mag magazine website.

It read: "We went to Old Trafford with a game plan to compete and to get a result, but it didn’t happen. A different result would have made it a perfect weekend all round but it wasn’t to be.

"As a team we will work hard during the week and try to repay your faith at home against Stoke on Saturday. Onwards and Upwards!

"I would also like to take time to thank Manchester United. I want to thank the fans for the fantastic reception and I would like to thank the club for presenting me with a brilliant picture book from the past 12 years of my time at the club. To receive the picture book from Sir Bobby Charlton, a Man Utd legend was a great honour!"

Ferdinand did his utmost to keep the score respectable, but was run ragged by his former side all day.

While he made nine successful clearances, he failed to make a single tackle and registered only one interception. He will certainly not be looking forward to meeting United again in a hurry.

Looked like he' s forgotten which side he played for. Harsh yes, but he wasn't all that whoever he was playing for. Manure thing he missed an open goal FFS.

Roll forward one year....

"I would also like to take time to thank Queens Park Rangers. I want to thank the fans for my fantastic deception and I would like to thank the club for presenting me with a empty scrap book from the past 12 months of my time at the club. To receive the pictureless book from Doris the tea lady, a QPR legend was a great honour!"

4 games in, and he's already been responsible for 2 goals conceded(Hull's winner, Utd's 4th).
He's 36 in two months. It's one thing introducing an effective short term solution, but another thing entirely introducing an ineffective one. Onouha could've used the away games at Spurs+Utd to get PL experience, wheras for Rio it's just been part of his final season retirement tour.

Shouldn't he have single handedly coached our defence into an immovable object now too? I thought that's what a load of the "pro Rio" camp were suggesting pre-signing?

No surprise given it was all about him and his precious brother all over again leading up to the game.

Signing Egos like him and Jnr always carries a big risk and rarely works out

Harry doesn't seem to worry himself too much with form. Once Harry's decided your a top player you can do no wrong. Players like Onouha are QPR's future and if we continue you to take them for granted they'll leave (I'm using the plural but I genuinely don't know who else I'm talking about).

Gone in the wrong direction with Ferdinand. We are a Premier League team, we could have scouted the leagues of Europe for a top young centre back, but instead the easy option was taken. Lazy, and we are now paying the price.

Faurlin, already seen Simpson & Hitchcock, Suk-Young.

Harry would much rather play has-beens than give a youngster a break.

Meanwhile, in his debut for Hull, Dawson was absolutely immense. Still, Rio's a 'triffic lad'

I thought I was the only one thinking this. Im worried Ned will be gone in Jan too. Dont see Rio lasting a whole season.
Also cannot see why Ned would want to sit on the benh in the Prem for a whole season if he's not injured. Sad decision !

How can Harry overlook Ned for Clint, Rio and Dunne? Beggars belief.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him go to a club like Sunderland, who he played for for a season, and do a good job for them. Maybe even playing like the Caulker bloke for Cardiff last season!

Having watched that car crash of a performance today from Ferdinand, I'm reminded of the post match analysis of the Hull game on here and despite him costing us that game as well, Geezers was virtually sucking him off and blasting the Dunney Monster even though he played well that day. I couldn't understand how one of our established players was getting the bird but everyone was all over the new comer like a rash. Ferdinand has been pony since so I guess some folk just got sucked up by his reputation even though he'd not kicked a ball last season.

The bloke's all washed up; No better than Dunne
