I have just been reading an article on sunderland echo.com, and it states that they reckon the 11 from the hartlepool match are more than likely going to be the starters for the liverpool match.. now do you guys believe that? surely it won't be otherwise we will line up as: ------------Mig--------- bardo------brown---anton----richo larsen---catts---colback-----vaughan ----------sess------- ----------gyan------- do you believe this will be starting 11?? I think the ones that start tomorrow against Hibs will be the 11 that starts against Liverpool...
Id go for .....................Mig............. elmo....turner...bramble.....Bardo Larssen....cats.....gardnder.....Rico ....................Sess............................. ...........................Gyan I'm assuming Downing will be lw so id have elmo at rb for his pace as to keep up with Downing and Liverpool are weak at lb so elmo could be dangerous going forward and overlapping larrsenn. Id go Bardo at lb with the thinking that they'll possibly play Henderson there, one crunching tackle off bardsley and henderson will shy away. I might be alone here with going for rico at lw but if they play Johnson he can't defend for toffee and his positional sense is dreadfull. .I think.rico has the pace to cause problems down their left and he has the pace to catch Johnson when he surges forward.
You've put a lot of thought into your team, but you've missed a big point for me. Richardson is ****e, he doesn't track back so it doesn't matter how quick he is, if he's stood with his thumb up as his arse as Johnson runs past him. I'd quite like the look of Dong on the left, it's against a big team loved in Korea and Asia and it's premier debut so he'll bust a gut to impress us and the folks back home, just what we need at Anfield.
mignolet bardo brown bramble richardson w-phillips cattermole gardner larsson sessegnon gyan subs: westwood elmohamady turner colback vaughan wickham ji
wouldn't be suprised if we sign a winger before the big kick off and I dont meen the irish lad we are getting Brucie knows we need another winger for the left wing asap
Well maybe Richardson won't play? http://www.safc.com/news/20110806/bruce-on-richardson-knock_2256213_2412172
Thats worrying then, because apart from O'Shea/Bramble replacing Anton/Richardson and Gardner in for Colback, theres not a whole lot more we could do with that team.
He's got to have Gardner playing, a midfielder that can score. It's beyond comprehension not playing him, if he's fit.
Ok my team would be from what i have seen so far ---------------Westwood------------------ Brown----Turner----Bramble----Bardsley Larsson----Catts----Vaughan----Colbeck -----------------Sess----------------- --------------------Gyan Subs Mignolet Gardner Richardson Ji Don Wong Whickham Still think we need a LW and i think one will be here, there are going to be players dissappointed every week as i think there can only be 5 subs named now. Anton, Elmo Meylor and O'Shea are not in that squad and if two more come in then two more left out.
Looks like pre-season is taking it's toll on mig. Reminds me of an older version of bruce. please log in to view this image Uploaded with ImageShack.us
**** me is the toll of playing behind Bramble and Turner worrying the poor Belgium kid that much? Lol 4-5-1 formation with Larsson, Gardener and Sess supporting Gyan and Catts and Colback sweeping up behind them. Bardo simply HAS to be the LB as no-one else is capable (a fatal weakness in the SB game plan so far) and Sess id the only player capable of operating the left flank (another flaw). Anton is a better defender than big Al at RB and thats a solid defence to be honest. Mig Ferdinand, Brown, Bramble, Bardo Larsson, Gardener, Catts, Colback, Sessegnon Gyan Westwood, Turner, Muhammandy, Vaughan, Won, Wickham, Richardson The only changes would be if say Bellamy or SWP came in but to be fair, its too late to put them in the team now anyway. Both would be subs for the Liverpool game in place of Richardson and Won for me. O Shea can operate anywhere in the back 4 but when he is fit, LB with Bardo at RB would be much more balanced. Anfield on opening day is a great fixture and dont forget, they are without Suarez and Gerard and have a 36 years old centre half as their best defender, someone who had his best days 3 or 4 years ago, and a right full back that thinks he is a winger and cant defend anyway. Don't fear the Reds but relish the prospect. We are good for a draw and can win. We may well lose but I am not fearful of this Liverpool team. They have leaked lots of goals to fairly bog standard opposition at an alarming rate in close season. In Sess, Gyan, Gardener and Larsson we have the ability to score goals now. Bring it on.
Agree with Cest on this one I think, although would set up more like 4-2-3-1 ------------------ Mig ------------------ Ferdinand - Brown - Bramble - Bardo ---------- Catts --- Colback ----------- Larsson ----- Gardner ----- Sessegnon ----------------- Gyan ----------------- Got to say, considering Gerrard and Suarez are out that team has the quality to get a result at Anfield. Their defence is ****e.
After watching yesterdays game and assuming O'Shea is out and we dont sign anyone... MIG ANTON....TURNER..BROWN..BARDO LARSSEN..CATTS..GARDNER..VAUGHN SESS GYAN WOULD BE OK WITH.. MIG ANTON..TURNER..BROWN..BARDO LARSSEN..CATTS..GARDNER..SESS RICHARDSON GYAN All the problems revolve around LW and its becoming a bigger problem every day
Sorry, couldn't let this one slide... Carra is only 33! It's just unfair to suggest he's 3 years older than he is, he could get pretty offended if he was reading this! Also, we played a near to full side (without Gerrard and Suarez) yesterday and beat a full strength Valencia team 2-0.
Not bad actually, he was finally played on the right. Put in a decent number of crosses and all were as good quality as Downing's (who was man of the match for me, absolutely superb). I think with some more experience with the team he'll do a brilliant job. I still think he's being slowly turned into a RW, CM just isn't his best position.
