this means the championship is being left out in the cold... should it happen then all teams in prem and champs should be able to field a side

Yeah this is complete and utter BS. It benefits no one.

PL teams gain **** all as their youngsters will get 4/5 JPT games a season. It will barely benefit them and let's face it, for most PL teams they were never going to make it into the first team anyway.
The competition itself gains **** all as the little prestige it has will be lost when Arsenal U21 play Chelsea U21 in the final in front of about 5k fans.
And the FL teams gain **** all as their already-low attendances for the JPT will be even lower. I know for a fact I'd rather see City v Exeter than City v Arsenal U21 ffs.

The whole point of the competition was for lower league teams to have a chance of cup success and a Wembley visit. The PL teams should stop throwing their weight around and ruining it for the rest of us. And yes, I know we're in the Championship, but I include us as we've had some great days out. 4 cup finals and some memorable games (4-0 wins v Reading and Exeter anyone?).

    Utter bullshit.

Bet this has been brought about, because of the new loan system. Chelsea have 60 players on their books with 25 named for Champions league (I know they ain't in it just an example) so that leaves maybe one or two breaking into first team leaves 30 players they have to technically loan out. It's a **** rule to pacify them PL teams, who can't even be arsed to play first teamers in the league cup till semi finals.
In my mind they should limit the total maximum players allowed on the books, that way the ones who are 95% not going to get into the Prem teams first team then become players at lower clubs.
    The whole system is wrong.

ROD says 60 on the books ......

it is a very cheap option to asses the better players that often have peaked when they are maybe 18 -19 years old and whilst pretty good may never improve much more .. so loaning them out for a couple of years means the wages are paid elsewhere ..... look after the pennies! ..... at say 21 if shown nothing, not cost a lot, great move them on ....

Should it happen there must be stringent rules ..like players must not have played more than x number of games ( 6 ) in a first team
no player over 21 before the last day of the last season
U21 squad must be NAMED 2 weeks before and be no more than 18 in number
and no player under 18 as per rule above ..
players must have been with club for a minimum of 15+ months
