This board has gone very quiet and I'm not so sure that it's a good thing. Prior to the transfer window and during it's length we had many posting about various players and now nothing. Sean O'Bristol did say that the team would be bolstered by some loan players when the loan window opened (when is that?) and, as yet, there doesn't appear to be any possibilities mentioned here. Despite 2 wins out of the last 3 we all know that certain areas of our squad need to be improved, especially that seemingly non-existent mid-field general, if we expect to improve our league position. We can't wait for Albert to return from his African winter vacation and then rely solely on him to find the net because I'm sure he will need time to adjust to the cold weather, and unashamedly that was another dig at him. The fixtures can run out fast at this time of the year and only if we improve the squad will we have any chance of avoiding the drop. Come on lads there must some juicy gossip out there.
Sundays are always quiet on here mike, Wouldn't read to much into it. As for players coming in on loan we have to wait until the window opens on Thursday is it? and I do think SoD will bring in a few faces. We get Albert back next weekend guaranteed and he will be like a new signing. SoD will bring a CB in, Well he has to otherwise a few eyebrows will be raised and maybe a CM that's probably all we are away from a decent team. Saying all this though I still think we will go down. Just look at the teams above us, Wolves, Birmingham and Bolton all way to good to go down and are just struggling. As us Barnsley and Peterborough are the worse teams in the league. We'll go down with a fight but will go down.
He is there until either the 3rd/4th play off on Saturday or the final on Sunday so will probably not be back in Bristol until Tuesday, back training on Wednesday in readiness for Cardiff. Our only hope is that we get at least two very good loan centre backs and no Shiny, Bolton, Brum and Wolves are not too good to go down. Increasingly at least one "big" team makes the drop each season. Remember Norwich, Saints, forest, Leeds, Sheff Wed, Sheff U all in the last five years.
Isn't it funny how some of those teams came back and roared into the Prem. Norwich and Saints look like they will be staying there, while Leeds may yet mount a serious challenge in the Championship. Not the end of the world is all i'm saying
So yeah next week. As for the big teams yeah sometimes one of them go down. But Barnsley Peterborough and us are not a big team and we're all struggling which will keep all of the above safe.
The Loan transfer window opens again on Friday but behind the sceens dealing is going on now in all probability to make sure the people wanted on loan arrive at the clubs that need them as soon as the window opens. Looking at all the papers today they all seem to be saying that the game at Blackburn was between two fairly evenly matched teams with the difference being Jordan Rhodes although they did say also the defending for the second goal was shoddy - Carey off the defence falls apart Fontaine needs to be shipped out asap he should have stepped up and assisted the junior player Wilson.
I think Shiny thinks his posts are so good they need to be there twice either that or he is trying to get the record for the most posts.
Its the bloody Super mods who need to sort it out Check out the Mod forum Angelic quite a few people have it
One of these three will escape the drop. At present it looks like Barnsley! Which means a biggie will go down.
I agree, Barnsley are on a roll and are unbeaten in 5 and I can see them avoiding the drop. I think it's us, Peterborough and a 'biggie' to go down
Im glad Barnsley have found form now. Theres a reason there in the bottom 3 and that's because there not consistent enough, They will go on a slump very soon and either us or Peterborough will go on a little 6-7 game run. Always happens
We still have something like 18 games to go, so a lot can happen. There is still time to save our skins
Yes there is but how many times does it need to be said; We perform for 80 to 88 minutes and in the remaining two minutes we gift wrap goals for the opposition. And if anyone thinks we'll beat Forest, then think again; I was a young newly married man the last time we beat them at the Gate (1973). And in the forty years since then since then I've married and buried one wife, found another and we need central defenders to stand a chance against Forest.
