1) Ollie Hawkins - Battled throughout and gets top spot for giving us the last minute winner 2) Conor Masterson - A dominant display at the back by Conor, a great last man tackle in the 2nd half stands out 3) Robbie McKenzie - Not necessarily the 3rd best overall, but in the first half when so many in the team lacked composure, I thought Robbie was the best performer.
The substitutions of Lapslie and MacDonald had me somewhat confused, but that's why the gaffer is in charge and not me, because they paid off in breaking the deadlock. 1. Hawkins, winner, winner, winner, what more can I say - Nichols was frustrating me a little (no disrespect) but Hawkins showed what was required. 2. McKenzie, he's here, he's there, he's every ******* where! 3. Lapslie purely for the goal, because it could have been anyone of Jefferies, MacDonald etc for me. I'm going to have to start paying more attention to Masterson, I realise it's one of my faults that I sometimes overlook players. Three players I never gave a mention, Morris it don't need saying he's consistantly good. Dieng I need more time looking at this player. Tutonda I thought he had a decent enough game.
1. Hawkins.... worked very hard - and his goal was superb. 2. Ehmer / Masterson .... without Hawkins scoring, I would have given my top spot to either of these players - who were solid when Gills had to defend - to allow Gills to be level with Grimsby - before deciding to be more progressive .......see- I can recognise a good performance by Max! 3. Not exactly sure - I will go with Nichols... Again, he worked hard, and his efforts on goal - causing their keeper & defence many problems, sustained the attacks - creating chances, corners - and ultimately a position for Alexander to put in a brilliant cross for Hawkins. ... In fairness (( of my previous assessment of Alexander )), I thought Che had an excellent camio.... I thought that most of the team, (( in the 2nd half )), played like a Gills side of old - with great effort and commitment -- it won't always end in victory - but very appreciated by me. .....as for Tutonda - sorry, brb, he had an awful game.
1 Jefferies. Simply because he was best player first half in poor midfield display 2 Masterson 3 McKenzie
